Anyone have Nitro in their tires? Mine came that way from the dealer. It's been over six months and never had to add any air? Just wondering opinions. Also I can put regular air into tires with nitrogen but not the other way around right?

I have Nitro in the tires. Funny you should post this...my low air pressure light just came on but we had a 30 + degree drop in temp outside.

Nitrogen is getting popular. In fact, Costco fills with Nitrogen. It's supposed to be less susceptible to temperature change and, because the molecules are larger than oxygen, they're less likely to leak out.

Now, contrary to popular belief, helium does NOTHING to make your tires lighter. Don't waste your time or money. :D

The valve caps that came with the car are pretty nice and say nitro on them. Of course two of them were stolen the first week of the car.

So I can put regular air into my nitrogen filled tires with no problem? I could care less about lighter tires.

That is correct. You're not going to concoct any sort of volatile mixture of air by introducing normal air to the nitrogen (the air is made up of 70% N, anyway). You're just going to lose the benefits of N.

WOW! I called the dealer about my need air light vs the Nitrogen; they said it was due to the temp drop.

Notice I stated N is "less susceptible" to ambient temperature changes... not completely resistant. :D

Oh I know but still what the dealer said is kinda kooky in my mind! :4-looney:

You would have to be able to put air in our tires, After all the SRT8's dont have a spare, they come with an air compressor to fill the tires

"If you have a "flat" tire or a situation where most or all of the nitrogen in your tire has been lost, you can also fill it with regular air if necessary, but we encourage you to visit your NitroFill™ dealer as soon as possible to have the tire(s) purged and refilled with NitroFill™ so you can continue to enjoy the benefits this product provides."

I want the Nitrogen in my tires...that's why I read this thread. Any idea how much it will cost to get it put in?

My car came with the nitro but the service dept. told me they fill tires for $39.95 and that include refills for the life of the tire should it ever need replacing. I had them fill the tire on my dually and I paid $49.95 for that due to it being 6 tires. I thought it was worth it after all I've read.

A local tire shop here charges $20.00 to fill all 4. I don't need the warranty, my tires don't last long enough for a refill. :D

i know N is better.....but i can fill all 4 for a quarter at the gas station, plus that quarter goes to a childrens charity lol what a rip off.

I had my tire filled with nitro at the dealership where I purchased the charger. It cost me $45. After the tires are filled you can go on their web site and register for some extra goodies.

Nascar has been running nitrogen in their tires for years> here is some interesting info that I found:

NASCAR - NASCAR teams use nitrogen because it allows them to more accurately predict tire pressure fluctuation. Nitrogen fluctuates with temperature change, but it does so less than when water vapor is present. Read On (http://www.getnitrogen.org/sub.php?view=nascar)... In addition, higher nitrogen levels eliminate the explosive properties of oxygen (oxygen loses its explosive properties at around 9% or less) Read On (http://www.getnitrogen.org/sub.php?view=nascar2)... NASCAR uses bottled nitrogen for portability. The bottles are delivered to the track by Praxair. Read On (http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question594.htm)...
Commercial Airlines – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires nitrogen in all commercial aircraft tires to eliminate the potential for water vapor (inherent in normal compressed air) from freezing at high altitudes. In addition, aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing use nitrogen membranes in their On-Board Inert Gas Generation Systems (OBIGGS) to "top" fuel tanks with nitrogen - an inert gas that does not support combustion.
U.S. Government – NASA and the U.S. military use nitrogen for many of the same reasons it used in commercial aircraft.

i have a toyota forerunner with nitrogen tires i bought at costco, i live at 6900 feet elevation and drive down to albuquerque at 5000 feet. nitrogen helps with elevation changes too.

Actually air is more than 79% nitrogen. Bt yes, 'regular' air can be added to nitrogen and vice versa. Personally, I think all this filling with nitrogen stuff is nothing but snake oil.

I've been thinking of getting N too. Hey if it good enough for the Navy Jets, it's good enough for Boo. Besides if I do I know where I can get refills for free. I'm qualified to work our N cart, hehehe.

FAAPOD, you are exactly right. The air you breathe is 80% nitrogen. Filling your tires with Nitrogen will most likely do absolutely nothing.

The first week of ownership I had nitrogen put in the tires, and never looked back. Love the stuff.

snake oil indeed.
