I just switched to synthetic oil after 34K miles w/the non synthetic. Have 200 miles on the synthetic oil - the car seems to run smoother. Also, a friend of mine has an Impala SS with 200,000 miles on it - always used synthetic oil - never had any engine problems.

It's worth the extra cost for me. Hope this helps.

40 bucks ain't bad, the dealer uses Pennzoil Platinum now, I would recommend a Mobil-1 filter instead of the mopar filter.

why the mobil 1 filter? is it because the mobile oil? ive always used the mopar filters in my minivans and never had a problem. how long do you guys go between oil changes? 7k or sooner. ive been a mechanic for chrysler for a long time, but i left 5 years ago for my city job. i lost touch with the new technolgy, so im sorry for the dumb questions. i was at the dealer where i bought my charger, its the same place i worked for 3 years, and my friend told that the wrong engine oil will set the check engine light. these cars are so unfamiliar to me i left the dealer in 03, alot has changed. i kinda dont even wanna play with the diablo.

The Mobil-1 filter is a better filter for filtration. It's one of the top filters on the market, Where as the mopar filters are bottem line there filtrations is 25 microns and the Mobil is 10 microns. Never heard of the engine light going off for the wrong oil, You do need to use the 5-20 as recomended.

Reading that Mobil-1 is 10 microns made me want to go do a little reseach. I know I am going to be using Royal Purple oil, and though about using their filter also, but their website says that it is 25 microns. Not nearly as good as Mobil-1 filter. Then I went to look at K&N filters, but their website does not say the micron size, anyone know what k%n filters are? I think my next oil change will be Royal Purple with a Mobil-1 filter.

To be totally homest if your car didnt' come with synthetic to start with I'm not sure there is an advantage to swapping. The technology has come so far regular dino juice is really good now. And as long as you change it regularly it will be more than fine. IMHO.

I've got 127K on my diesel running regular oil and had 250K+ on my Grand Prix using it. The GP never even leaked. and its maintenance was just regular oil changes.

I have used Mobil1 in all my vehicles since 1998. My 1998 ford expedition has 147,000 on it with no engine issues, I feel i am doing the best I can for the motor. The other synthetics like Royal Purple are rated exellent also but I never tried them. I use the Mopar filter but like others said the Mobil 1 and K&N filters are top notch. Having paid 3 times as much for a high quality synthetic oil change I would go 5000 miles between changes with confidence. By the time you but 6 or 7 quarts of oil and filter you are at or over $40.00 vs 15 to 20.00 for conventional.

Mobil 1 synthetic here too with Mobil 1 oil filter but I might start using K&N oil filters, I think they cost a few dollars less.

If I remember correctly, Hemi engines require at least a semi-synthetic oil or else you might have problems, so whats a few more dollars to go full synthetic?

run Amsoil 0-20 in cars and 5-30 in trucks all syn with Amsoil filters, no problems, run 7.3 ford to 298,000 before selling and no problems another to 150,000 with no problems, make sure you use a Good filter, thats the key there, i change at 7,500 oil then filter and oil at 12,000 on the trucks. cars at 7500

im not sure the oil change that was done if they used the synthetic. assuming the used car policy at the dealer, i dont think they spring for the good stuff. my engine is a bit noisy at idle, i dont know if thats normal. it almost sounds like a slight main knock but i dont think it is, sounds more like the evap solenoid clicking.

it doesnt say anything about using any synth oil in the 5.7 engine section in the owners manual. It just says synth can be used.just make sure 5-20 is used.

I switched over to Royal Purple about two months ago and I have seen a difference. It seemed to make the engine run smoother. I was doubtful on the switch but so far it seems to be working out pretty good.

Hemi engines, I believe are suppose to use semi-synthetic or what the dealership calls a blended mix, but call up your local dealership to double check.

Yes, the Hemi needs 5/20 weight oil for the MDS to function.

i used to use Mobil1 5w40 but the place i get my oil change says my engine is supposed to take 0w40 (i didnt know that even existed) so ive been using that. but i have always used Mobil1 full synthetic and Mobil1 filters. i have used Royal Purple before in a diesel and it worked great, and i used RP trans fluid in an 05 Ram Daytona that i had, man i shoulda kept that truck lol
