I am going to purchace either a Sublime Daytona or an Srt8 Superbee. I would lve any feedback on either car. I plan on purchasing one or the other within one month. Please be frank and candid with your reponses pro or con. I would also like to know about aftermarket chips for both the 5.7 and the 6.1. Please help a future Mopar junkie out.
Thank you,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,
First, let me welcome you to the forum!
I had the means to purchase either one, I'm pretty sure I'd go for the SRT8 SuperBee, but in the new blue color they are comming out with. If I had to choose the Daytona, I'd deck out a PlumCrazy as best I could.
As a 3.5L V6 owner however, I don't know much about mods for either of those, but I'm sure someone else will chime in shortly.
Again, welcome, and be sure to check the supporting vendor forums, that might give you an idea of what is available.
Cheers!

They arent even in the same league. If you have the money get the Bee.....the sublime is a cool color but once you start modding you're going to regret going with the 5.7 versus the 6.1.......The Bee has.....
Bigger wheels unless is an 07..the 07 Daytonas could have 20's
better suspension
better sways
brembo brakes
6.1 hemi
ST headers
better exhaust
cool little bee embroidered in the seats.....
Go with the Bee

I had the choice. I bet ya can tell what I went with. Several factors that influenced the decision. The srt8 gas guzzler tax ticked me off but if I was buying one right now it wouldn`t bother me. :4-dontknow: The daytona mileage influenced the decision a little. I liked the sublime color better. The price tag helped me decide somewhat. The seperbee had a lower production number so I started leaning that way. The srt8 brakes started leading me more. The HP was helping sway my decision also but in the end the 2100 guzzler tax really ticked me off. Then I realized I could get the daytona and mod it to get srt8 power. I`ve started that part already without compromising the warranty. Once the warranty gets close to expiring I`ll pass the srt8 power and have the color I want, the options I wanted and will have saved the guzzler tax.
It also helped that my wife relly, really wanted the Sublime color.

If warranty is a concern.....You wont even get close to SRT8 power without voiding the warranty. If you get a CAI, tuner, LT headers/ w high flows, Custom exhaust, heads, cam, upgraded springs, torque converter, and change your suspension....then you are around the same power as the SRT8. For that price...get the SRT8 and then modify that...no one will catch you. I never understood why people by a lesser car to try to upgrade it to be a car they could have bought outright....unless you couldnt afford it initially. If you can afford it...go with the Bee!! you wont regret it.
Also...dont let the gas guzzler tax bother you...just negotiate right and they will take that price off the amount of the car.
You want to know about aftermarket tuners.....currently the 5.7 has the superchips and the 6.1 has the B&G. Very soon Diablo will be releasing the Predator.

10 grand gets you better suspension, sway bars, brembo brakes, 75 more horses stock headers, a little larger exhaust. (Daytona`s have embroidered seats and 20`s he said sublime. Not available in `06 so it has 20`s) Daytona has the R&T package standard also. And color matched stitching. Upgraded exhaust and air intake too.
A good bargain? Tough decision but a good one to be faced with.

10 grand more???? your crazy...i bought my SRT8 fully loaded out the door for 38. Can you get a Daytona for 28? They deal on the SRT8's...not sure if the will deal on the Bee. The biggest thing you get is the engine....open it up and look at the bore

Sorry. Let me clarifie for you. When I bought mine the superbee had just hit the dealers. They wer 10k more and they wasn`t budgingoff the price. They would deal on a srt8 all day though. What will they do now on a superbee? I don`t know.

Maybe my post sounded too biased? The truth is just a few months after buying the daytona I started to buy a torred srt8 also. The only thing that stopped me was knowing the challenger was on the way so I decided to excercise patience. As a family car the daytona is the choice for me. For my personal daily driver I would choose the superbee. Hope that`s more clear.

Well I hope this doesnt piss anyone off but its going to be the Sublime Daytona and a mid to late 80's 930 turbo for the fast lane. P.S. we may wait for the Challegers but im hearing that they will carry a 20k mark up at first.

Good for you Jonathan. Glad to see you made your decision. If you want a Sublime though I wouldn`t wait too long. I`m pretty sure it`s an `07 color only and once they`re gone from the dealers you`ll be left looking for a used one.

Congrats on your decision, the Sublime is one snazzy looking car. Personally as an owner of an srt8 formerly an owner as an r/t there is no comparison in cars. Although I do miss the gas mileage of the r/t..

If you got the money, get the SRT Bee. And yeah, for me, where i was shopping, the SRT was almost 10-11 g more. And if all's i wanted to do was go faster, i could take that 10 g and be putting out the HP to destroy stock and mildly modded SRT 8's. I wouldve gone with the SRT no doubt, but couldnt swing it, and am now slowly modding my Charger, which is fun itself, and Ive got the money, because I didn't stretch my finances, which that SRT does for many lol. These 5.7's are real sleepers too, just begging for higher flow heads and bigger cams. Some folks with 5.7's with mild heads and cam packages already in the mid 12's with the weather cooling. Guess my point is, if you gotta have a Sublime or Gomango Daytona, you can get it going plenty fast:D

It is not too late you can still change your mind. The SRT offers a lot more than just horsepower.
Also the bees are numbered if that really makes a difference.
There are other threads on this forum delineating the differences between a Daytona and an SRT along with opinions that there is no hope of making a Daytona perform at par with an SRT.

Wow, 10 grand more. The SRT's in my area are only around 3k more, lol. What tax guzzler tax? Does every state have this? Haven't heard of this tax before....either my dealership covers it and doesnt bring it up or it isn't in my area.

As long as you don`t mind the gas mileage in the bee and you have the extra money then YES :D get the bee. It really comes down to what makes you happy, what looks better to you and what you want to spend. By the time you buy one though the blue bee may be out. That is one sick looking machine.

I just went through ths 3 months ago. When I sat in the Charger Sublime there was no changing my mind. I know the SRT8 is faster and a real beast. The Daytona just says "I am a Charger". It is a numbered car and one day.....
I just figured the SRT was like my RT with a hughe engine, better seats, lots of power and a scooped hood. Premium gas was no the problem but no MDS... well that sucks for travelling.
The grin on my face is so very obvious when I get in the Sublime. Only YOU can make this decision. Come sit in my Sublime. As they said, the Sublime is a 2007 car only. :old:

I bought the Daytona because I like the way they look,as well as the fuel mileage. The SRT's are awesome! I have my mind set on an SRT Challenger, but I just couldn't wait,I had to have a new toy now! When the Challengers come out, and the new frenzy die's out,I will have one.

I wanted SRT power without the price tag, so I picked up a used R/T with the hopes of tweeking it. The Bee is not just power though, it is a freeking Bee! I say go with the Bee if you can afford and find one!

When I bought my SRT8, I had to have the Fastest, Meanest looking car on the lot. I didn't even look at any other models. If Dodge made the Bee when I bought, I'd Bee driving a Bee. I've modded the heck out of my SRT, and I'm still not done, but there's so much more you can mod with a Bee. Buy the Bee if you can. Good luck with your decision.
Here is a pic of the New Blue Bee. Enjoy

Just to clarify:
1. If it is RAW POWER you want without the Bling of bright colors, hood decals, hip stripes, colorful interior to include seat stitching the same as your exterior, there is NO DOUBT that the SRT8 is KING and ready to rock right out od the showroom.
2. If you want a lot of power, opportunity for MODS over a period of time expending what can be a tidy some of money, and yet never quite get to the power of the beast SRT, and all that bling, then a Daytona is in the offering
Now if you want BOTH, bright colot with stripes and badges, Awesome power (the same as the STR, and a numbered car, then it surely is the BEE.
What I did 3 months ago, was to decide to trade my RT for a Charger with all the Bling I really wanted. I debated purchasing the SRT and the Daytona. Once I sat in the Daytona, I felt the thrill I had felt when they delivereed my 1969 Charget R/T 383, 4 speed trans, 4 barrel beauty. It was a great feeling that may have been mine alone:4-dontknow:. None the less my thoughts were, I can have the Power few others have in the Mighty STR8, and it would be strikingly similar to the R/T I was unhappy with.. with awesome power. The fact was that I was sold on the idea that I would have perhaps the brightest car on the road the Gharger Daytona Sublime. Drive downt the road and sight down the Black decaled hood. The cockpit dark graphite with Sublime inserts. More power than I had, better exhaust, and then there was the MDS with improved gas mileage that would not be there with the SRT. To me the decision was obvious.
My dear friend Zodiak has reminded be to mention that even after purchasing that fantastic Sublime, I still do not have the power that i think that I wan. I have looked into a predator and whatever else I can instal to get that power. But never quite get to the STR8 or the BEE.
I hope that this makes it a bit more clear. Even though I have the means and connections for a great price break, I will not give up my Sublime for the SRT8 and unless I see the B5 blues BEE and can't do without it, I will smile each time I walk toward that Sublime, turn the key in the ignition and feel 20 years younger.
You have to do what you feel good with. This is just honest info I wish I had made more clear in the first place.

Well, being a Bee keeper myself, I'd say get the Super Bee if you like everyone who thinks their car is fast messing with you all the time, standing out in a crowd and having strangers walk up and start conversations about their old Super Bee days. Oh yea, the additional 85 HP you get with the SRT8.
