I'm gonna call this one the Sunday Afternoon mod...
Cause that's the best time for this kind of mod.
Got out and pulled the headliner out of the wifes car. Last week I had bought some new material and glue to replace it. Pulled all the old off and used a stiff brush to clean the old glue and foam off. Sprayed a nice even layer of glue on then went to town pressing and cutting till I got it all nice and smooth. It really looks good in there now without that sagging GM headliner.
That's NOT the Sunday Afternoon mod... but it leads up to it. The windshield is filthy as I noticed again while doing all this.
Wife and I went up to ACE because I was looking for a deal to wash the windshield and they were supposed to carry them. Called a reach and clean, looks like it would work to get that long Camaro windshield.
They didn't have it but I ended up wandering around and found this mod setting there on sale. Well, the sale was supposed to end on the 27th of last month but since they still had a sign he would honor the price of 40% off. Only problem, they didn't have any left. Spoke with the manager and he said he would check the other stores. He come back with good news and bad news. Bad news, there was only one of them in Oklahoma. Good news, it was up in Edmond and they would hold it for me.
We're in the wifes Camaro so we just shoot on up to Edmond. Grab it and an extra item as well. We were both getting hungry, it was around 2:30 in the afternoon. We agree Chinese food sounds good so we hit Chins and grab some take out. We get home and I'm excited to get the mod installed but we take our time and enjoy our meal.
OK, foods et (yes that is a word) so we get out and start setting up everything for the mod. Got out some plastic sheeting and spread it all out, need a nice work surface to do this mod. Whew, just enough of that for the mod, YAY! Lessee, gonna need the water hose, check, got it all set. Compressor is still running and hose is stretched out still from doing the headliner.
Have you guessed the mod yet?
We stretch out the sizes and try to get it as smooth as possible. I grab my blower nozzle and start inflating the ring around the top. Not too much, it needs to expand with heat some. Now it's time for the water hose. Fill a little and work out wrinkles as it's still filling some more.
Yeap, you guessed it, we got us a nice pool. 12 x 36 is big enough for us and at 40% off it was cheap enough. I used my ACE Rewards and it only cost me 85$. We been outside enjoying the water as it filled but it started getting cool and it's still not filled yet!!!
Pics to come soon, will show off the headliner and the new pool. No I'm not posing by the pool but I might talk the wife into posing. ;)
