I did hear about an awesome conversation yesterday, my friend who is a vendor here, talked with the SRT engineers and they did not have any information if the 6.4 is coming out this year or next year.
He also talked with some people working for Chrysler on their new hush hush engines, they said they working on a 426 Hemi engine. He asked if it was a crate motor, and they said "NO". He is not sure if it is a concept engine or if it is for production, they would not comment any further. |

Interesting. I'll dream of a direct-injected 426 from the factory.
![]() No info on the 6.4L though? That's interesting as there have been quite a few rumors about it flying around for a year now... Reliable insider sources, not the crummy dealership rumors you hear from time to time.

that would be pretty cool. Be interesting if anything like that makes production w/ the new regulations being loaded up.

When talking with Josh at HHP, his 426 Strokers are 650 HP and get 25-27 MPG on the highway and 16-19 MPG in town. My Challenger has around 490 HP, and it gets around 21-23 on the highway. (Only if I keep my foot out of it)

That is way better mileage then i would have guessed. Maybe with a little R&D we can see a 426 in the SRT8's or something. That would be exciting!

Wow, thats alot better then I thought too. Is the 650whp? If so, you could throw a 150-200 shot of nitrous on it and have a very mean daily if it gets that good of city MPG.

There is an online discussion today (8/5/2009 6-8pm EST) with the SRT engineers on a few forums, you may want to join in and participate.

Our tuner Mike's old 392 stroker with MDS got 26 mpg highway on a good day. I would very much doubt getting more than that. That's being GENTLE on the highway...stop and go in city driving and you're a good deal under 20
EDIT: Btw add a supercharger to a stroker and watch your mileage hit the basement. Members on LXF report 7-11 city mpg in a supercharged 426. One guy saw as low as 3.6 mpg when beating on the car a little..... 3 mpg... no commuting there
