Now this is happening to mine , 7 months out of warranty and less than 24,000 miles. Just a small bubble at the top of the screen. Damn

So even after a private message to Dodge cares. No nothing nadda, zilch. I will call tomorrow. I guess if you have an issue out of warranty tough beans even if it is a known defect.

Try1-800-423-6343 and/or 1-800-423-1997. First is Dodge Customer Care and second is FCA. I've got both numbers on "speed dial" just in case! GOOD LUCK!(y)

another "not gonna fix it for ya" over here.. dealership was very friendly, but wouldn't fix it.. uconnect 8.4 4C... the bad ones..
i did find a guy on ebay where they sold me just the digitizer for like $150. that liquid behind the original digitizer is so messy.. gently.. GENTLY work it off with rubbing alcohol and dont press too hard..
works pretty good, sometimes it doesnt respond right away, but at least i dont have to deal with the ghost touches any more... sheesh. at this price, just fix it yourself and roll on with life. videos all over youtube for digitizer replacement.

Well... It's been months since I looked here. My screen is now completely unusable and causing issues with the operation of my vehicle. I'm pissed. And I see that "DodgeCares" is still just a misnomer.

I'm pissed at Dodge for this. I keep wanting to pull the trigger on a Scat Pack but I just can't get past this experience. This - of ALL things - they refuse to help us with. It's not OUR fault AT ALL. It is THEIRS for doing business with garbage manufacturers. But WE get to be the ones to take it in the arse for THEIR inability to ensure that their parts were manufactured with effective QUALITY ASSURANCE.

Screw you, @DodgeCares. You clearly DON'T.

So, I see all these "I'll never buy another Dodge" complaints and I think Yeah, but it is literally the only problem I have had with my car. I have had a few Chrysler cars and have to say my '17 Charger is the highest-quality car ever made by them. Yeah, I don't like that there is a glitch that costs money to fix, but based on what I like about the car and the overall reliability, I would buy it again in a heartbeat. If you're complaining here because you think they will take notice and try to take care of you... uh, yeah-no. At some point there will be a class-action lawsuit and you'll get some money from that, count on it. It happened with my Ford and it was literally fixed with a software update. I got 200+ from that (Can't remember the exact amount), so this should be at least several hundred. Thank Dodge for making some lawyers rich.

I am having the same issue with my charger, the door panels are warped, the LCD screen started to separate, then today it started pressing random buttons and initiating SOS 911 calls.
I am having this exact same problem. Phantom touches constantly. I have to turn it off completely otherwise its going constantly. I also had to replace the inside door panel because it pulled away from the door, and the outside door panel along the edge flaked off and I had to have that replaced. But, the replacement part didn't fit so now I have a bowed panel just waiting to pop off at any moment. I am so over this car. I am just past 36000 miles, but I have bee trying to get a hold of the dealership service dept. for over 6 months now, and even brought it down there. They said "they'd call me.. I just found out today they are under new ownership. So now I'm past my warranty and worried they aren't going to fix it.

Are these problems enough to consider it a lemon? Or are those engine/mechanical issues only?

Wanted to update this as I FINALLY got around to fixing this myself since Dodge is very unwilling to back its product. TL;DR in my honest opinion I would recommend paying out the ass and have a dealer fix the uconnect to save yourself the hassle.

Let me tell you this was a major pain in the rear. The YouTube videos make it look easy of course but just the risk of breaking something in the dash is worth paying dodge to fix this. Not to mention the time and hassle.

Getting the dash cluster off alone was not easy at all but I will tell you what is easy, breaking the clips that secure the cluster. Those are cheap and easy to break.

Reusing the old digitizer is highly unlikely unless you're a brain surgeon I guess. You will most likely break it trying to get it off so have a replacement ready to go.

Cleaning the glue off the uconnect is an absolute nightmare. I would set aside a good 4 hours and get a hazmat suit because you will be covered in glue. Then good luck finding the replacement digitizer, it must be the exact Part Number and that old uconnect 8.4 BS on Ebay listings cant be trusted as it took me a failed attempt to learn that.

All in all I did get it fixed and I am somewhat proud of myself but I am very unhappy that I had to do this and it cost me one of my air vents.

My car is a 2017 Daytona 5.7 and I have had both the door panel issue and the uconnect issue. I bought the car used and of course all was well during the test drive but within a week I get both uconnect and door panel issues.

With that said this will definitely make me question buying another dodge in the future. Yeah I got it used so they probably dont care anyway but for a car in this price range, the Charger sure has a lot of cheap parts and as we can all see their service is laughable at best and the cars come with a dogshit warranty.

I never thought I would say I miss my Hyundai haha.

@Maddnotez - I also have a 2017 Daytona 5.7. How did you identify which digitizer to buy? I'm not sure at all which one to get. Do you possibly have a link to the one you purchased? Is it possible that I have a different screen than you? Not sure what trouble you ran into here

But yea, I always end up having the same experience as you when I do things myself.
But I still can't justify handing over MORE money to the company that sold me the car in the first place.

Any and all help appreciated!

So... The screen in my Charger is now rendered COMPLETELY and UTTERLY useless. It has 100% eliminated ALL access to any and all functions of my Charger that require the screen.

Because Dodge STILL refuses to accept any responsibility for this obvious manufacturing ****-up, I am now forced to replace the screen myself - with my own money - as though I didn't already pay them nearly $56,000 for my Charger.

Hey @DodgeCares... Here's a message meant 100% for YOU:

By the way... Here is the auction that I purchased from. This seller sells only the most recent part number which is a version of the screen that is allegedly improved to prevent any of this bullshit from happening anymore. (Though I admit that I hope that the screen quality is a bit higher as well.)

The newest, current part number is: LA084X01 (SL)(03)

I spent a number of days sending offers for the LA084X01 (SL)(02) but all offers were rejected. (They were hardly "lowball" offers, either. Counteroffers were a pathetic $5 off of a $220 screen.)

The seller I purchased from seems to have a particular, reputable stake in the market and guarantees the LA084X01 (SL)(03) with this statement in their listing:

"We only sell new and improved recently manufactured 2023 LA084X01 (SL)(03) SL03 Model. This model is not prone to failure like LA084X01 (SL)(01) model. This model is interchangeable with all LA084X01 models (SL)(01) (SL)(02)."

I just placed my order. They do free UPS Air overnight shipping so I should have this by Tuesday. If there are any issues, I will report back here with specifics. (I absolutely WILL follow up in that case, too.) If not... Assume that everything went OK. If there is anything specifically noteworthy or improved, I will still make a point of coming back here to report on it.

Wish me luck.

SUCCESS. That was actually well-spent money. I did, in fact, receive the LA084X01 (SL)(03) model screen. It's MUCH nicer quality than the original (01) version!

Some notes, though:
  • The adhesive that was SUPPOSED to hold the digitizer to the screen...(...😒 DODGE...)...didn't just sink downward to the bottom of the screen. It actually LEAKED OUT at various points along the width of the bottom edge of the screen. This adhesive was SUPER fucking difficult to get off of anything, too. Especially my hands. I had to use WD-40 to get it off! It was all over the bottom area of the radio assembly which added extra time to the screen swap to clean it all the **** OFF. It was a real mess! (Oh MAN was I pissed off.)

  • You do, in fact, have to re-use the "Video" ribbon cable from the original radio as the kit didn't come with that. (So don't look for one in the package.) This is fine, though. The original worked perfectly so it's better that they don't create additional e-waste by unnecessarily including one.

  • DO be careful when tensioning the 6 screws that hold the screen to the assembly. At first, the screen showed really horrible whitewashing at the right side:

Naturally, I had only applied a modest amount of tension to the screws but even that was too much it seems. So, with advice from the ebay seller, I backed the screws off a little and the whitewashing disappeared - for the most part. The result was more acceptable compared. (The picture is just before the screen shuts off so only the backlight is on. I realize that didn't help my perceptions at the time.)

    Here is the result:

Output device Gadget Flat panel display Rectangle Sky

I spent another half-hour or so tweaking the screws for the best results.

  • There was also a cylindrical standoffs with edged lips that fit between two PCB boards in the radio assembly - each about an inch in height - that have holes through which the screen screws pass. One of them did not have it's edged lip aligned correctly in the PCB boards which caused further, unexpected tension. (To the lower-right inside of the assembly - relative to the picture.) Ensure that all six standoffs stay aligned correctly during reassembly by inserting and tensioning the screws while keeping the radio with the screen FACE-DOWN on a soft surface. (Adjust screw tension as necessary during testing but before permanently re-mounting.)

  • I did also find that the black, Metal bezel over the front of the screen is likely the bluetooth antenna. There is a small, black wire that is soldered to the inside frame of that bezel. (Center-bottom.) This small-gauge wire was caught between the radio assembly and the bezel during my first reassembly. I suspect that this added more tension to the screen thereby contributing to the warping of it. Make sure that the excess portion of this wire is slid back in between the rear of the screen and the radio assembly itself when placing the Metal frame back over the new screen.

  • I did find that tightening the black screw at the bottom-right did slightly impact the warping at the corner of the screen. (Almost not noticeable but I saw it.) I ever-so-slightly bent the lower-right Metal 'ear' forward (toward me) and tightened the screws once more. That seemed to mitigate that problem. 🤷
All of that aside... The results were GREAT. Once I reduced the whitewashing effect (as much as one can) and the screen came on with backgrounds and images, the screen looks AMAZING! (This picture doesn't even begin to do the show of quality justice!)

It's nice to be able to drive my car without the controls acting like my expensive-ass car is losing it's mind! (No thanks to @DodgeCares - of course. They can go **** themselves for not helping us with what is CLEARLY a manufacturing FAILURE.)

Anyway... Enough outta me. Let me know if you guys have any questions. I'll eventually answer them when I see them. Heh...
