I'm starting to get pretty ticked off myself. My Daytona is 2018. I'm starting to wonder about the quality of it.
  • Today the button on my trunk deck to open the trunk broke.
  • I've replaced the license plate lamp THREE TIMES because the clip keeps breaking.
  • I have numerous creeks, squeaks and grinding noises from parts of the interior that drive me NUTS when I go over any rougher roads.
  • The speakers under my windshield RATTLE like CRAZY when there is any vibration in the car. Drives me INSANE.
  • The delamination - which is CLEARLY a manufacturer's quality defect - has been happening for two months now and my radio started doing weird things just today - on top of the broken button.

And here I am planning to buy a new widebody Scat Pack in the next couple of years! Am I just planning for a MISTAKE here?

YOU tell me, @DodgeCares. When is FCA going to finally do the RIGHT THING here and call this what it is - A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT - and start making this an easier process for your loyal customers?

Call the spade the "spade" and start taking care of your customers here. Or I'm going to have to give HEAVY reconsideration to my current upgrade plans.

I expected WAY more from MOPAR here.

I'm having the same issue with my 2017 Charger I've already talked to the dealer and they said since the original warranty was expired by Dodge they can't do anything. I've only had this car for 1 year I bought it used with 58k miles on it. And the week I bought it overheated and blew head gasket. I got the engine replaced for free. But now I'm having the defamation problem and it switching stations. about a month ago I was almost in a accident because my GPS switched to a phone call it called on its own. Now the mileage is 64k so I don't know what to do about I don't have 1200$ to replace it, I'm still paying on the car and my payments aren't cheap so can @DodgeCares help

Started experiencing this about two weeks ago. On my Challenger 2017 RT In the time it took to bring it into the dealer, it got worse. It just appeared one day. Today the dealer said i'm out of warranty as of last year. I have to pay 1,050 to fix it. No good will. Nothing. There's no way I can pay that. Of course it happens just outside the warranty period. @DodgeCares is there anything you can do for me? I've already called 4 different dealerships. None of them wanna help. Eventually it's gonna become a safety issue if I can't use my reverse camera anymore. Let alone my radio.

Thanks.

I've bit the bullet and just bought a replacement LCD screen so hopefully that'll work out, I kept going back and fourth with my dealership. It's pretty easy to replace on your own, just look up a how to on YouTube. It's better then paying them to diagnosis it and forking over a 100$ bucks and then them saying you have to fork over 1200$ to replace it. To replace the screen it's only 500 or more to buy it. I would recommend going that route if you're out of warranty. I'll do an update when I've stalled mine.

Where can you buy it from?

It's a problem with all the 8.4 radios across all their brands Dodge, Ram, Jeeps, etc.
What makes it a huge problem is the radio controls so much of the vehicles functions.

What starts out as a minor inconvenience eventually effects the back-up camera, navigation, hands-free phone, music, all the touch screen functions.

The company response has made me extremely hesitant to buy another mopar brand going forward.

I have a 2018 Charger GT with the Plus package and short time ago my display screen also is bubbling on top left corner. I just turned 36000 miles when I noticed it. I see it is a common problem. Is dodge helping out with these repairs?
They told me since I was out of my 3 year 36k miles that it is not covered. However if you did buy an extended warranty with your vehicle it would possible be covered by them. I bought one and was told it should be covered but they have to hold my vehicle until the repair is approved and won't offer a rental until it is approved.

THAS AIS A BUNCH OF B.S. I figured, it to be my problem. $40k for a car after 3 years of ownership it starts to be a pos like a Chevy. I have bought 5 new cars and trucks from Ford and have not a had much trouble. 2 new Chevy trucks and both crap by 45k miles. I had 5 chargers growing up and had almost no problems. And now I buy this one thinking it will be my sons first car in a couple years, doesn't look good. Where is that customer satisfaction person now? Did someone start the class action yet?

Have you taken the car in to a dealer? - you need to do that first.
If they decline to replace it, I would follow-up with dodgecares and see if they can help.

I was basically in the same position as you, ~36k on the car, purchased new in 2017.
The dealer in our town (<30k pop) ( and not even the dealer we bought it from) did a goodwill replacement without any hassle at all. Took the service manager about 15mins to get it approved.

When I first brought he car in, I asked if they had seen this before and he mentioned they had seen about 50 of them and like I mentioned, this is a fairly small town. It's a problem with all 8.4 radios across all their brands.

It took about a week for them to get a radio. They did not hold the car or anything.
-holding to car to see if it might be covered seems pretty stupid to me, I don't understand the logic of that.
When the radio came in, it took them about 30mins to install.

Hey everyone,

We're sorry to hear that you might be experiencing these same concerns with your touchscreens delaminating. Since your dealer is equipped with the resources to properly diagnose the concern and appropriately apply the terms of your warranty, we kindly recommend setting up an appointment with your dealer to get this addressed. If anyone needs additional support or would like us to investigate their specific situations further, please don't hesitate to send our team a private message!

Also, please know that you may visit Official Mopar Site | Warranty Information to learn more about your warranty, at any point in time.

Thanks,

Courtney

Funny stuff here and damn I wish I saw this thread a week ago. I just bought a used 2017 Charger Daytona and well...here I am.

60k miles so no warranty. I didnt buy the extended warranty from the dealer because my previous one was a waste of money and also the finance guy who wouldn't take no for an answer was a complete goober who almost lost them a sale.

Anyway, here is my long story. My lcd screen has a straight line across it about 1/3 the way down. Not cracked or bubbled but there is definitely a line there, straight across mostly but then it goes up to the top right. No issues with ghost buttons yet but I literally just bought this car the other day so its pretty annoying.

Now the fun part. Im 99% certain the dealer knew about it and did a great job covering it up. During my test drive I noticed the line, I said something to the sales guy like damn wtf this is broken? Then as im touching it I said oh wow its plastic nevermind. Its still got the plastic on!!! Thinking the car was well taken care of.

Well I should have taken it off to check because the plastic stopped exactly where the line was to hide the fact. What a coincidence huh? Definitely a shady dealership and on top of that they stole the coin tray from the console lol.

I said something about the tray because im 100% certain it was there before but they just couldn't find it and didn't think it ever had one.

The thing is, I bought the car on Friday. They got it Thursday, it hadnt gone through their "service" program yet and that department was closed on weekends so I had to wait until today to pick it up.

I guess its good to have it inspected first but at the end of the day in my opinion the only thing they did was wash my car, steal my coin tray, take the plastic off the lcd and low and behold there is some random wire hanging down from under the steering wheel that wasnt there before.

Kind of pissed off about these things epecially the random wire but otherwise I love the car, it is mean, looks great and moves. Damn I hope it lasts because this thread has me worried.

Sorry for the rant and incredibly long post but yeah. I have a little work to do. Ill probably try to find this $50 replacement screen ive seen mentioned. Ill make the phone call but not expecting any help.

What an experience for a first Dodge huh?

I came from a 2009 Sonata with 185k miles and not one single issue. Was gonna buy another Hyundai and maybe I should have but I wanted some muscle this time around.

Good luck.
My back-up plan was to replace the screen myself, watching youtube it doesn't look that difficult.

Thanks and same here. Those screens are like $50-$100 it seems so not too bad. I am going to call that number posted in the thread to see if Dodge will fix it. Worth a shot I guess.

Otherwise on the bright side I'm not having the ghost button issues. I looked at it some more and its definitely bubbling at the top as well but its not very noticeable unless I'm using Navi in daytime mode.

I have seen others who bought their cars used and dodge said no to replacing it.
My dealer did replace ours (goodwill), but we bought the car new and it was just out of warranty.
My wife was prepared for them to say no and was ready to go to war with them. :ROFLMAO:

It sucks because the touchscreen controls so many things on the car and it's obviously a manufacturing defect.

It is and obviously should be a recall, I searched issues before buying my car and found nothing. Now after searching this specifically it's a very common issue. I think there's a class action lawsuit going on right now.

It's unfortunate. Thankfully I dont have ghost button issues.

So my dealership basically told me to piss off. I will be leaving them a bad review after this is all said and done for multiple reasons.

I'm working with FCA as a last hope. I had to update my ownership info with them which is done and give a couple of days so I am going to follow up Monday to see what they say.

Questions regarding a worst case scenario, if I decide to replace it on my own can I get one with a reverse camera and then install one? My car didnt have that package. Also I see things like Trinity T2 and Tazer, will those allow me to add a backup cam?

I believe that I addressed you DIRECTLY, @DodgeCares. I expect a direct reply. I'm not pinging you sideband because anything and everything that we have to say to each other is relevant to everyone else here...so you can say it HERE.

I'm getting pissed off as the delamination has proceeded to the point where the top third section of my screen is now COMPLETELY separated.

WHAT - ARE - YOU - DOING - ABOUT - THIS?

I don't want to hear any of this sidestepping BS about "check your warranty, blah, blah, blah". Have you NOT been reading the room here? This is a CLEAR manufacturer's defect.

ADDRESS THAT.
