The Uconnect website says no updates available but my god are my maps are out of date. There are whole neighborhood subdivisions that were build over 3 years ago that are completely blank on the map. I emailed Chrysler and got a generic non-helpful response so I'm left irritated. Just bought this car brand new 2 months ago with 16 miles on the odo--how can there not be any new maps? With the 2017's using apparently a different Nav unit it appears like us older navigation owners are left out of the updates.

    Any suggestions?

The Uconnect updates are not the same as map updates. Map updates aren't free. What map version does the NAV report?

[edit] just noticed you have a 2017, are those still Garmin based?

Actually I have a 2016. :) My version #'s are attached. So you're telling me I have to pay for new maps? Ugh. If its more than $20...I'll think about alternative options.

That attachment doesn't show the map version, as an example the current version is 2018.10

Map updates from Chrysler run about $150 and are usually a year older than the current Garmin revision. The 2011-2014 models have the ability to be updated for free using a compatible donor Garmin Nuvi and a thumb drive. I do updates twice a year on my 2011, but AFAIK no one has figured out how to do the 2015+ models yet.

The map update page shows nothing currently available for the 2016.

Thanks for the info. Where do I get my maps version number? I really hope someone figures out how to do the 2015+ because I am not paying $150. That's some price gouging right there!

I don't remember exactly, it's in the NAV settings somewhere.

you have 2014 Q4 map, and yes it's outdated but not update from FCA now.
You can update your map by another way but It's not so easy that with the garmin system.
By the way the most recent we can have right now is 2015 Q3.

I have not heard of any other ways to update the 2015+ maps outside of the uconnect system update process (which shows all maps are current). Is there any light you can shed on this other process?

    Never say never ;)

First you need a uconnect update files and patched it to run your own script.
Then when you have acces to your uconnect internal files you have to patch Naviserver to run all license files, I don't for My15 but for My16 the Naviserver was protected so I have to use an older Version.
Then you will need to modify navRestart for launching you patched Naviserver.
To automated the navRestart you can patch some other files that are launch in boot.
You can then copy your license files and new map.

You can also add Lockout function, 3D building ( for VP3) , speedcam Alert by patching 2 Swf files.

As I tell you it's not easy but it can be done, I made it for my car.

Glad I don't have to deal with that mess to update my maps.

That's the sole reason why I never get NAV on my vehicles....the crap is outdated by the time you drive the car off the lot and have to pay for the map updates.
