    Hey y'all,

So I have a 2017 Daytona 5.7. I drive 25k miles a year (I travel all over the state of FL for work). That being said, I like the active exhaust because it's got some volume, but no drone on the highway. I don't LOVE it. I would like a bit more sound around town. So I'm thinking about a mid muffler delete since the active valves will still be working, but more noise will be coming through. I'm just worried about that awful drone... I had a Roush F150 5.0 before the Charger and that had some pretty annoying drone.

So, has anybody in FL (with the 5.7) done a mid muffler delete on their active exhaust setup? I'd like to see about hearing it in person, and since I travel the state, I'm able to meet up pretty easily.

I'm not in FLA. , I do not have the AE setup . I do have something for you to ponder . The mids are pretty much straight thru ( or mine were ) it's those suitcase like resonators that is keeping it quiet. I changed the mids to magnaflow 4x9's ( for that MF sound ) still it was barely noticeable . I took those resonators off it's got a nice rumble at lower speeds the only drone is at about 2k rpms until it shifts.45- 60 mph it's like a Monday morning church. Then when you get on it there is zero doubt about what lives under the hood. Results may vary and I did NOT stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

A lot of owners are doing the dynomax bullet in place of the mid mufflers which seems to be a nice mid point between stock and mid muffler delete

I do not have any info on this topic but, I do want to ask you about your car.
Since you drive a lot on your car. How many miles do you have on your car currently and have you experienced any issues Mechanical or any thing?

I don’t drive many miles on mine (about 5k a year) and I would like to know what problems I could encounter in the future.

5k in a year? You're so lucky. I've put 5k on mine in 3 months of ownership :(

TGO, thanks for the info! So I have two dumb questions for you.

    1. So we have 3 sound effecting devices in our exhaust? Muffler, resonator and active valve correct? I would go look under my car, but it was rear ended and in the shop for a month. So you're saying leave the mufflers, but take off the resonators?

    2. MF sound? Medium Frequency?

    Thanks!

Haha no I drive 25k a year. I know you're pain man! 18k miles since June on mine... Somebody rear ended me so I've been using a rental Charger and driving the living daylights out of it! Save the miles on my car!

I'm really debating that lifetime warranty, but I know exhaust mods can void the aftermarket warranty (but not the factory one).

    Hey Javier,

I have only had my car since June and about 18k miles on it so far. Luckily I have been problem free. Mobile1 full synthetic oil change every 6k miles. That's all I've had to do. I'm hoping for 150k without issues and then trading in.

    1. Yes you have 3 ( assuming the daytona has the resos on the back by the bumper) the mids , then the active exhaust ( I missed it by one year ) then the resonators.

    2. I was lazy here , MF = Magna Flow. It makes it sound like a Hemi should.

What you can do is have them take the resonators off you keep them ..see what it sounds like / if you can live with it or not. I replaced the stock mids with magnaflows because I like how they sound.A friend of mine was a bit more thrifty and got " flo pro " 4x9's on his sounds a lot like mine for about half the price.

my work car is a KIA forte. I live 35 miles from work I can not imagine feeding a hemi that 70 miles a day. Then we have an actual winter here in Kentucky complete with snow and ice .I wreck the KIA oh well different story with the Charger.plus 36 - 39 mpg beats the Chargers average of 22 mpg.

This may not exactly be an apples to apples comparison, but I have a 2013 RT and got my mid mufflers replaced with Flowmaster super 40s and got my resonators deleted, also did 2.5in piping from the muffler back. That sounded amazing but as you may suspect with the MDS and on the highway and in the city there was a bit of drone. Since then I added 2.5 in cherrybomb glasspacks where the resonators where. This addition made the inside noise more bearable but also dialed back the outside noise to about 90% of what the Super 40s alone were. It still sounds awesome to me but I can definitely bear the drone more and I travel on the highway often. Like I said, not apples to apples because I don't have the active exhaust.

Edit: I have the 40 series not the super 40, it's the 3rd loudest according to Flowmasters website.

But then his drive to work would be just as boring! ;)

Driving my Daytona 25k miles a year lets me enjoy the car the way it's supposed to be driven. Not to mention the amazing feeling of people taking the time to compliment your car/give thumbs up while driving around. :D

Ahhh okay, thanks for the clarification. That's a good idea about just pulling the mufflers and holding on to them. I might do that.
