I am a bit confused, I have a 215 Mm axel, and I think most limited slip’s have either 226 mm and also some. Have 233 mm....
I thought they were talking about the thickness of the axle But when I do the conversion 215 mm converts to over 8 inches? So they cannot be talking about axel thickness ...

Makes an old man like me a bit crazy...

Anyone have an answer?

Maybe the diameter of the ring gear? Back in the day, we called them 7 1/4, 8 3/4 or 9 1/4 (Dana) with the larger diameters being the heavier duty rears. The factory commonly called the rear end the “rear axle”.

Well that makes more sense to me....
215mm = 8 15/32” = 8.4645669291
226mm = 8 57/64” = 8.8976377953
233mm = 9 11/64” = 9.7142293465

Good educated guess ... un less it refers to something else
Thanks

It’s the size of the ring gear . axles are unique to engine size. all 5.7’s use same axle. all 6.4’s use same axle etc.
what application uses 233 mm diff ? I thought 230 mm was the largest ring gear in the 15 up ZF diffs.

Well I have a 5.7 Getrag open diff w 215mm,
but I believe the LSD is a 226mm that I am going to install from a 5.7 Chrysler 300
Or am I confused on that.

I stand corrected on the 233mm should have been 230... opps

Wonder if my 2013 5.7 Daytona R/T with the Super Track Pack option has a heavier duty rear than a regular R/T? I know it came with SRT size sway bars. I could never find any spec on the rear when I bought it new.

Do all the different size rears have different axles? In other words can I use 215 axels with the 226 rear?

I think the axels have to match the diff ... 215 to 215 ... 226 to 226 etc...

Do you have a LSD or open differential?

I have run it at the track with the traction control turned completely off and both tires spin equally. However, I don’t think the 3.06 rear that comes in the 5.7 Charger R/T is actually a limited slip? I have never had only one tire spin. I am impressed with my best 60’ time. This is with the original Goodyear F1 Supercar tires that came on the car. That performance is the reason I was wondering if maybe the Super Track Pack option came with a bigger rear.

That is impressive et.....

I wish we had a chart showing the Various LSD diffs and the the axel sizes...
I had assumed that all LSD were on the 226 and up diffs...
Maybe not???

Are some LSD on the 215 diffs?

Back to digging info to find answers...lol

I just realize you have a hellcat?
I would imagine you ave LSD And possibly even the 230 mm axle assembly
Now that et makes sense

Yes but that ET does not make any sense for a Hellcat. My daily driver is a 2013 Daytona R/T I bought new. It now has 129,000 trouble free miles (where is the wood so I can knock on it?). Look at the link to my build sheet above. I never raced the Hellcat. What I’m thinking is that I have the same rear as you and it works fine for occasional drag racing. Maybe there is no need to go with the LSD unless you allready bought one or are a serious racer?
