I dropped my baby off this afternoon. The battery saver mode list came on about two months ago and nothing was changed so I let it go. It came on Saturday and hasn't went off since. No vehicle problems outside if the message but I want it fixed since I have a ten hour drive this weekend. Sucky thing about it is that the dealership doesn't do loaner cars. The good thing about it is that I am still under bumper to bumper!

battery Saver Mode

Well, I have first hand knowledge of this event to share. This forum is the only place I've seen with this thread, so even though I do not have a Charger, I have a 2012 Journey Crew, 3.6L AWD, 121,500 miles. No extra electronics, just OEM draw on the system. Yesterday a.m., the BATTERY SAVER MODE message displayed for what appeared to be no particular reason. I arrived at my destination after an additional 35 to 40 miles, with no incident. After the vehicle was shut down for about 3 minutes, I started it and the message was clear. No signs of any issues. Approximately 3 hours later, I was in the car on my return drive. The start was normal, and about 20 miles into the drive, the BATTERY SAVER MODE message appeared again. After another 10 or 15 miles, the Bluetooth cut out and the radio shut down, then I started getting random indicator displays of ABS, Traction Control, Service AWD, followed by the car dropping from 6th gear at 75 mph to 4th gear! I bumped it into neutral and rolled on the shoulder until I was down to about 40 and put it back into gear, but from then on it would not shift out of 4th gear. All of the instrument display was now pulsating with the warning flashers. I continued steering at top speed of about 12 mph, when everything went dead. Breaks, steering, nothing... now into the first parking lot and called for road service. With minimal diagnostics from a jumper box, it appeared to be a dead alternator. The battery could hold a charge, but it was not getting a charge. Dealership Service will know more today or tomorrow, and I will do a follow up at that time.

Man... what's with this 3.6L and the alternators? Super common problem... I'd be pushing Dodge/Chrysler for a refund on any of them that get replaced out of warranty. Then again, 120k miles is a relatively long life, lol. Still, if it's such a recurring issues, I'm inclined to point to a design fault.

I see this thread has been going on for awhile. Tonite I went to start my car, using autostart, and it didn't start. Went outside to press the start button and it still wouldn't start. Had a clicking noise going on then as well from the engine. White screen on the evic. Now, I only have 3500 miles on it and I hadn't driven it in 4 days, which I do quite frequently. My keys were in a different spot then usual. Normally they at about 50 feet away but this time they were in a draw on the other side of my house. Anyway, I had to jump the car. Now I know I didn't leave anything on and when i finally got it started the battery saver mode was on and the radio shut off. I've seen the message prompt go on before and by the time I went to check it was gone but I'm assuming that's what it was before

The symptoms there seem a little different. Definitely seems like a dead battery, but I don't know the cause of it. Some have said that keeping the key fob too close to the car can cause it to constantly recognize it, keeping things sort of "at the ready", which can drain the battery. If your keys have been away from it, maybe there's a draw somewhere... or someone else can chime in with a better idea. :dork:

Brought my car to the dealer today and they said the battery was bad so they replaced it under warranty. The service guy told me if the battery saver mode comes on then there is an issue. Shouldn't come on otherwise.

Browsing through the forums, I stumbled across this thread, was linked from another thread. I had a 2011 dodge durango 3.6 with no added electronics. Last winter 2 days before christmas the battery light came on accompanied by a faint whine. Needed a new alternator, dealer item, about $700. 38,000 miles. Seemed ridiculous at the time, even moreso now.

Need some advice. I have a 2013 Dodge Charger Daytona. I've been getting the battery saver message on and off, for the last 2 months or so. Sometimes, when the message shows up on the evic, and if I shift to P or N, the RPM goes up to 1,000, and keeps fluctuating between 900 and 1,200, but once I shift back to D, it comes down to 500/600 levels.

Went to the local dealer here in Saudi Arabia, and they said it's common in the chargers, and nothing to worry about.

Is this the alternator issue? Also, is there any way I can check if my alternator is going bad?

My Wifes Charger had a similar problem. We had 18,000 miles and the dreaded message started to show up. I was driving and the car shut down completely at a stop light, luckily I had a spare battery that I was using to trouble shoot the problem and was able to switch it out on the road and make it him before the 2nd battery died.

Ended up buying a new alternator and replaced it in the parking garage. no problems were seen afterwards until recently using the A/C a lot.
Seems for my wifes car the A/C is the cause

I too have this message in my car. The crazy thing is I had it into the dealer Friday to replace an accuator and they didn't comment that there was a message on the evic. So I checked it and it said battery saver mode. The car has had a high pitch whine for about a week but I don't notice it all the time as I am a fan of louder music. I have also noticed the odd smell by the time I get to work. A little peeved that after reading this I am going to have to buy an alternator and my husband will be wrenching on the car. All the recalls, updates, crazy noises the brakes make (even when new) I really wonder why we didn't buy a 5k beater instead. At least you expect problems. With only 97k on it, it shouldn't be causing us headaches.

i have the battery saver mode msg.
and i'm seeing this msg since i bough the car and now the ODO is 3800km.
the car working fine and every thing working fine but this msg keep coming.

what to do? and how can i check if the charging system working fine or the battery working fine?

i took it to the dealer and they told me nothing wrong i it!

I took video of mine coming on and showed it to the service department and explain to them how a lot of others with chargers are having the same problem. And then asked them should I keep driving it and risk causing more damage or have them fix it. 8 hours later I had a new alternator and battery.

Had mine in this week, was told it is because of my accessories.
This has just begun.
What I don't understand is if the accessories are causing problems according to them, how can they offer se owners upgrades like heated seats, heated mirrors and bluetooth? We were told they could add those no problem. Would they have told us we needed a new alternator since the stock one clearly wasn't sufficient to run existing services? The dealerships make no sense on that one for me.
