I wasn't aware of this, but you may still be able to start your car with a dead battery in your fob.

As a test, I took the battery out of the fob, then used the fob to press the start button (with my foot on the brake) and the car started!

I recorded a short video but wasn't allowed to upload due to the file type, so i attached two screenshots.

Thanks for the info, but I believe this is also listed somewhere in the owner's manual. I know, many people don't read that thing, but....

The car is not really dependent on the fob having power its more like the chip they use in pets there are seiners in the doors and trunk and I think one in the dash that reads the chip.
