I have my light switch set to AUTO and the headlights and fog lights stay on during the day. It’s not really a big issue because I can turn them off but it’s irritating because I’m still paying the car off. I’m wonder what the issue could be, and could it lead to any other problems.

Is anything covering up your sunload sensor on top the dash?
If not maybe there is an issue with the wiring to it or the sensor itself.

Normally you can test during the daytime. Turn to AUTO then put your hand or a rag or something over the sensor and usually after 15-30 sec the lights should come on. I guess this won't work in your case since the lights are already on in the daytime. If you turn the headlights on manually do the dash lights dim as they should? When it is on AUTO during the day and you say the lights are stuck on do the dash lights dim?
I'm guessing the sensor but not sure how else to check it without removal and not sure how involved that is. Maybe check both fuse boxes for a blown fuse also.
