Hey all, just signed up here. I obtained this car and have big dreams but need realistic expectations. Give me the good and the bad. I need to know the best places to dig up parts (original body dash etc., and aftermarket disk brakes, suspension, etc.)

Ive got time while we dig into tear down and sheet metal repair. I tell you I understand this is a multiple year undertaking so I know its gonna be alot of work. My son is 10 yrs old and I want to build a car with him.

Its a 73', Ive posted a couple pics and a somewhat close idea of what I might want it to look like (i am not stealing someones idea, its just a pic i grabbed off of the web that I like and shows some of what I want to do)

I havent decided on a motor yet, it only has a trans now which might not work with what I choose... right now its between a modern electronic small block, classic 440, or a 5.9 cummins.

Feel free to share your thoughts but be gentle, I admit I am no Mopar expert, just a fan at this point.

That's a beautiful piece of classic technology. I love it!

One year when I'm ready to make the leap to a project car I hope to own a classic charger and restore it bumper to bumper.

I cannot offer any advice as to where to pick up classic parts but eBay seems to be a good supplier of these parts and sometimes you can find some parts on Kijiji or Craigslist

Thanks for the welcome folks. When I get the car to my shop in the next couple weeks I will snap a bunch of photos and start a project thread. Any suggestions for the best place to post? Should I start it under the 73' area or somewhere else? I want guys to see it so they can offer advice, tips, etc.

is it originally a small block or big block car? do you want it to be a quarter mile terror, or something you can cruise in/take on the freeway? a lot of that will determine direction for powertrain

a cummins 5.9 probably isn't realistic, as it's almost twice the weight of a big block, and would make it handle terribly, if it would even fit under the hood....

itll be a street and strip car. It will spend 90% of its time on the road but will be driven hard. I like to get froggie while cruising around. hot shots from light to light, WOT getting on the expressway is daily driving for me and more so than usuall with this as my ride!
