Ok let me explain to those people that don't know. Some police package cars have the fob that turns on the car and also have the buttons that unlock and lock the car while others have that option plus a actual key like older cars to turn on the car. With this key he turns on the car and has the fob in his pocket. What he wants to do is leave the car running with the key in it and step out and lock it. Then when he returns he want to be able to unlock with the fob without the lights coming on. Correct me if I am wrong. You can always lock the doors mannualy but I don't know about the headlight besides using your key so they won't come on. Sorry...

 

Correct, I want to be able to pull up to a call, leave my car running and lock the doors, and then be able to unlock the doors when I come back to the car. I arrested a Fugative the other day and I had to dig out my spare key while holding this guy, lean in and unlock the doors through my drivers door console.....NOT SAFE.

I have the small Black key in the ignition, NOT the valet' key.

I cannot shut off the headlight "on" option when you hit the unlock without EVIC, I have already tried. I was able to shut the "flash" and "horn" honk off when I lock the car though.

So simple rundown:

Driving car, put in park, get out, hit lock on fob with car running and doors shut....NOTHING

Driving car, put in park, shut off car, restart car, get out, hit lock on Fob with doors shut.....doors lock

Driving Car, put in park, leave car running, hit door plunger, shut door.....Fob does not work to unlock

Driving car, put in park, shut off, get out, hit lock on Fob with doors shut.....doors lock (flash lights and horn disabled but headlights come on when I hit unlock) The issue with this is that I get that stupid "Key in the ignition" chime when I get out of my car.....(I know pull the key out, but sometimes Im in a hurry and I dont want to have to buy a key cause it fell out of my pocket)

I just want to be able to:
Drive Car, put in park, get out, shut door, hit lock on Fob and have it lock and Unlock....

And now my department is very interested in knowing the answer also since once we figure this out we will take about 8 squads to the dealership to have it fixed, not just mine.

 

Try talking to multiple dealerships. Sometimes the guys working there are complete morons and don't know anything about the Cars they work on!!

 

I have, all the ones in the area are clueless.....Do you guys know of any that are inteligent? Ill call them if you have suggestions......

 

Well I just set a 7am appointment for this Friday, My dealership and I are going to sit down with "Star" and figure this out.....I will post the information on here as to the cure for those that are wondering how to resolve this issue.

I just found out that we may be ordering up to 7 more 2011 chargers! Im sure hoping that I get one!!

 

i don't know for charger but on some car, the remote receiver module in the car have a ignition input. when feeded, it block the fonction from the remote and when you cut this wire, it work anytime. maybe you can ask for that or if someone in here have a shop manual, check there.

 

Yea since I dont own it Im not going to cut anything.....BUT

The dealer couldnt figure it out, I figured as much....but the guy I was working on said that he was going to have the advanced techs at Star work on it and request an entire new program if it is ingrained in the vehicle's programing.....He said that after he did some digging and saw the online complaints he would make sure that the issue was fixed and that there would be a programing update available to all dealers if they can figure it out.....so for those that dont like that their car is set up like mine may have a cure for it soon....

I have a 2009 Police package Charger and have this EXACT same problem with not being able to lock the door using the fob while the motor is running. Bad setup for police car. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this yet? I see the original post is almost 2 years old. Appreciate any help.
