Hello my name is Spooby ("Hi Spooby" from the crowd) and I have myself a 2014 Charger SXT. Love the car, hate that at 50,000 miles I just put my 3rd set of tires on it. I went to a dealership the other day and was oh so close to trading it in, but you see, the way my bank account is set up, I got a checking and a savings......well you know how it goes. Either way, maybe I can find some answers in the threads to why my car is eating through tires so fast. And no, it is has nothing to do with a heavy foot. Either way, maybe I can learn some new stuff on here and find assurance in keeping my car. I really do enjoy the car, just not buying tires

Haha! Great intro and welcome from SoCal!

What brand and model have you been using each time? Have you had any person or shop take a look for an opinion?

The first set were the Michelins that on the car from the factory. They were rated at 70,000 miles and didn't even get half that. The second set were a set of Bridgestones, also rated at 70,000 miles and they crapped out like the Michelins. The set I have on there now are another set of Brdigestones. I have taken it back to the dealership and they swear up and done nothing is wrong. No alignment. No balance issues. I noticed a rough ride when I first purchased the vehicle in 2014. They kept telling me that it was because of the sport suspension. I have owned cars with sport suspensions and never rode as rough as the Charger does. In three years I have numerous visits to the dealership and they still don't want to recognize there is a problem. I had a guy last week tell me it could be the bearings or maybe even the camber. But even they weren't exactly sure.

Ah, that is interesting indeed. Do you have an alignment sheet? Usually toe-related issues kill tires fast - camber aside. You would know with the driving if it was that bad though. Also, are you having wheel/tire rotations done at proper intervals?

I do have the alignment sheets. All rotations have been done at the proper intervals. That is how I found out this last Friday that my second set were no good. I went in for a regular rotation and when they pulled the back tires off, it was nothing but wire showing about an inch or so from the inside of the tires. The front ones were fine. When it rains, even with the new tires, the back end is really lose. I can feel it in the steering wheel. I get a kick out of it but my kids not so much lol.

Wow that was pretty gnarly at only 50k original miles. Any chance that you can upload and post your most recent alignment sheet? I am just curious to see the actual numbers.

I agree with ya! I had an RX8 that I rode like I stole and didn't have any issue with tires on it. Of course I was young and dumb when I had it. Now that I have wised up a little, I take a little better care of the big toys. And I can upload the sheet tomorrow. I am at work today and its at the house.

I wish I could say that's what it was. This is my family vehicle so I tend to keep my foot off the gas. I aint saying I haven't done it once or twice because lets be honest, its a freaking charger! But, I can count on one hand the amount of times I have really been on it.

HAHA! What a coincidence. I just sold my '06 RX-8 to a good friend - zero issues after 14k miles of daily duties and 90% freeway over 1.5 years. Staggered wheels/tires and had even wear at the dealership alignment+tire inspection.

Perhaps something in the suspension is not holding up and allowing play.

I had an 05 and it was my baby. Not very family friendly though lol. I think I put about 60,000 miles on it before I sold it. Its been 5 years since I got rid of it. I will have to see if I can find a picture of it, it was legit! Had all kinds of work done to it.

Well someone isn't doing you justice then. I'd try a different alignment shop.

If the inside is worn it sure sounds like it could be a camber issue, the car is not lowered is it? I would be looking at all the rear bushings closely. Welcome from AZ.

My car burned through tires every 20-30k miles too....crap tires. The stock tires are garbage. I ended up putting Hankooks on my old 2007 Charger and they ended up lasting +75k miles.
