I have a new 2014 charger SXT 8speed transmission. I have noticed that sometimes when accelerating from stop or trying to pass my gas pedal seems to be unresponsive. Also i noticed when going from a stop the first three shifts seem to shift real fast, i don't know if that is normal or not with these 8 speeds. I previously had an 11' charger that had sluggishness at times did that reset procedure on with success. However i noticed the evic is a little different on these 14'. Does anyone know procedure for these to reset? I did try pulling battery negative but that didn't seem to fix it. :4-dontknow:

The 8 speeds do shift extremely fast through the first 3 gears. And mine also is slow to respond when punching the gas. Then when it does respond, if you let off real quick, the throttle wants to stay engaged for an extra second or two. It's irritating.

Disconnect that battery for 15-30 mins and let that baby reset itself

NOt sure about the resetting procedure on the 2014's It could be the same as on my 2012. You pull Fuse #31 for about 15 seconds and it resets the adaptive learning. As far a shifting of the 8 speeds, My SRT Jeep had an 8 speed and shifts really fast from 1st thru 3rd.
Does pulling that fuse reset or affect your tune?

Should've spent the extra $50 a month and bought a hemi. Why would you buy a v6 muscle car??? I will never get that.
Seriously man, you have 5 posts and in 4 of them you've acted like a jackass. Go to the other forum for that. We try to be civil to each other here.

If I'm not mistaken the 2012 SE we had with the 8 speed would start off in 2nd gear with normal acceleration. At least it felt that way when I was driving it. As far as a little sluggishness goes it did take a second or so for it to find the right gear. That's a lot of gearing to put into an automatic so I really didn't fault it that much. The overall efficiency of it while cruising on the interstate made it all worth it though. 32 to 35 is what we used to get. CRAZY gas mileage out of that car... :)

Hi JetTech...Some of the SE's, later in production had the 8-speed tranny. Not sure about the Chargers, but the 8-speed in my Jeep starts off in 1st gear. I would be surprised if all didn't do that.

Interesting article on the 8-speed tranny from AlPar. Check out the gearing down in the article. 4:71 first gear really helps to get 2 tons moving and shifts fast from 1st to third. With the V6's, they need that and the V6 power curve is higher, so the sluggishness can be noted on start.

Once you make the transition to adulthood you'll realize that not everyone thinks like you, and not everyone needs or wants a Hemi. I prefer the lower insurance and better mileage, and 300HP is plenty for many people.

Exactly the way mine acts. When you are in the taller gears the car has to lug down way too much before the transmission actually downshifts. The Piece Of S*^t E-Shifter we are saddled with won't allow us to manually drop one gear when that happens.

Hilliphinon8;

I bought the car i wanted which was a Red line with an 8 speed. I could care less that it is a muscle car , that is not the reason i bought it. I bought it because
-Great gas mileage
-like the looks and options
-like the power for a V-6
-Like the comfort
-the price is definitely better
I could go on and on........If you don't have anything to contribute to my post then don't bother giving your two cents because i don't care.

To all the rest of you ...
Thank-you for help :TU:

The only reason I "think" it started off in second gear is because when I would accelerate moderately from a start, then slam it to the floor as soon as the car was moving it would downshift a gear. I could be wrong. I didn't drive that car enough to get a feel for it. All I know is that it got crazy high gas mileage on the highway. And it was powerful as all get out in the higher RPM's... Honestly, if it wasn't for that shifter, we would probably still own it. My goodness I hated that E-shifter...I know that probably sounds weird but that shifter drove me nuts...
