Hi I just got a 2018 charger RT for my wife about a week ago and while backing out of the driveway or backing up into a spot in a parking lot I noticed that when I switch from reverse to drive or drive to reverse it takes a little more than I’m used to with other vehicles for the tranny to actually kick in. I have to hold the brake and shift from reverse to drive and keep my foot on the brake for another couple of seconds just to make sure it doesent keep rolling back. Is this normal for this 8 speed or should I get it checked out?

Shouldn't be more than like 1/2 a second to switch gears. If it feels longer than that, maybe worth having the dealership check it out.

Yea it’s enough to where my wife that usually does not pay attention to small things like that noticed it. I might have to take it in because backing up yesterday into a parking spot i put it in drive to straighten out and the car rolled back a bit and caught me off guard I had to slam on the brake and let it shift before letting off the brake to pull forward again.

Could just need a software update. I'd just take it in and let them have a look at it. Sounds pretty delayed to me.

Yea I’m guessing it has to be some sort of software update because it shifts perfect through the gears once your moving.
