hey guys

I got rear ended 3 weeks ago in a snow storm. The Charger is now repaired. I am picking it up tomorrow but the collision shop said they had to disable the electronic / auto open function of the trunk because it won't stay latched otherwise. I was told I will have to take it into the dealer to get fixed because there is a recall for it.
I searched the recall forum and just see stuff related to this for previous models.
I want to see if anyone had this issue with the latest chargers. The shop said the issue is not accident related. Wanted to call BS but before I do I want to ask you fine people. Thanks guys.

Never heard of this issue on a 15 + model year. MY 2011-14 did have some issues with a few of them where the trunk would randomly pop open or would not shut. Most of it had to do with the trunk button located on the trunk. They replaced them under warranty. New rubber style button with better seals.

That's kinda my concern. I didnt read anything on the newer models either. I got rear ended. It's a hard sell convincing me its not related but maybe it's coincidence. I am taking my car in on Friday the 13th so we'll find out its a warrenty or accident related repair. Can't wait for the battle.

Might just have to get a 2017 Daytona or something. Just pisses me off someone on Heroin hit me in a Snow storm on my way to work. So it wasn't my fault one bit and I have to deal with all this BS. If this doesn't go well and I can get out of my lease or do a swap which I have on a couple occasions I might do that. Irresponsible people make me want to scream. Anyway.

Im' sure the dealer can fix it and I'll bet it's 100% caused from the accident. Keep us posted as to the outcome. Also, Insurance should cover it as long as the dealer states it was accident related otherwise it will be covered under warranty. Either way your covered.

Also remember that the 2017 Daytona Rt has the 2.62 rear end with a 220mm axle. Your R&T has the 3.07 rear end with the 230mm axle.
