Please do your research. Especially those that live in a big city. Chargers are SUPER easy to pop the drivers door lock and take the contents (even from the trunk).

Love mine, but hate it's lack of anti-theft measures. Next buy is not an exhaust MOD. It's lock plates for the driver door and rear trunk.

all cars are easy to break into but most new cars are difficult to steal. If someone just want the contents all the have to do is break the window. once on the inside you can hit the button to open the trunk. most contents are gone in about 15-20 seconds...IJS.

basically, if someone wants to break into your car or house they will find a way. you gotta roll with the punches.
From a law enforcement perpective; the sheer simplicity of jamming a flat head screwdriver into my door to get it open is of concern. I started this thread to make perspective buyers aware. Most of you are telling me that it's just something I should get use to?

Solutions would be nice. Cost effective ones. I'm looking into getting lock plates put on to avoid the enticement to thieves. My auto insurance will be more apt to fix a broken window as apposed to the bent lock that still functions. See what I did there? Solution ....

Well your certainly correct in making it harder for someone to get in. But look at the facts. Newer cars are very difficult if not impossible to "Hotwire." thats why the most commonly stolen cars are old Hondas and Toyota. They can literally be started with a flat head. About 99% of the car thefts I go to are because someone left the keys in it. That being said almost all vehicle trespasses I see the thieves are just after your iPod or stereo or wallet you left in the car. If they really want it it's a lot quicker to just smash and grab rather than meticulously pick at your door locks so they can swipe whatever. Most criminals don't carry around burglary tools planning to pick locks. It's more of a crime of opportunity when they see your car parked in the dark next to some rocks and no one is around. Car alarms are one of the best deterrents for those idiots. They may break your window but at least your $2000 mygig is still there.

yeah bro i just had my radio stolen recently . . .

they didn't mess with the door locks bro LOL!

window broken , ravaged my ride , & made me look KRAZY DRIVING WITH OUT A WINDOW

( for 1 day nobody fix window's on sundays)

as most said and I will reinterate ( damn i can't spell that to save my life LOL) If sombody want your stuff and they are on the prowl to steal . . . your $hit is good as gone.

no you won't get use to ppl breaking into your ride .( this was the 3rd X my car was broken into)

nowadays ppl. . . car thief's are smarter, and high tech ,they swap the comp and drive off with ya ride .

just be proactive , don't leave stuff in the open .

sometime we take a loss .

I appreciate the up-front replies and I guess I should get back into "big-city" mode after living in the sticks for the last 4-years. Guess I gotta get back in Jersey-Mode ...

My wife's Yukon shows up in a couple of weeks off the Boat - Hope they dont take any of her $hit - She'll go SNOOKIE on someone ...

That's how my car got broken into. Smashed the locking mechanism with something and popped the door right open. Good thing I took the connector off of the back of the trunk button or all my stuff would have been gone. I just don't leave anything in my car anymore or leave it unlocked if I'm going somewhere. It's def hard to steal the newer cars, not impossible, but hard. If they get their hands on a certain computer your car is gone no matter what kind. I just replaced my driver side door with a handle that looks like all the others. No more keyholes on my car, besides the trunk.

Lemmi ask this; is the trunk lock as easily broken into as the door ? If not, I'll prob do what you did and replace the door handle and disconnect the trunk button.
You have to think of it this way Mustaine...

All the carmakers had to make the locks easy to pop out. Like the others said, thieves will get into your car no matter what you do to prevent them. If they didnt make the locks easy to pop out, the thieves would do more costly damage to the doors, and still get into the cars. So your doors would be mauled every day at work. This is part of parking in the city, you have to live with it. I can only suggest not working in the city, or buying a beater to take to work.

Unless you travel in your car for a living, you really shouldnt keep anything valuable in there anyway.

SIMPLE! Keep your car interior empty.... "IF" you have anything valuable put it in the trunk BEFORE you park your car, it will REDUCE the chance of a break in.
A thief will NOT break into a car just to see what is inside... He is after something that is visible like your camera, cell phone, lap top, Christmas pesents, GPS, etc.
Breaking a side window is easy with a spring loaded centerpunch and it takes 15 seconds to "smash and grab" your items. Stealing a car takes (two guys) less than 90 seconds even with "anti theft" ignitions.
"Punching" a door lock (you will never know it was punched until you look under the handle) is easy with a screw driver and when they start making a "punch proof" door guard plate the "maggots" will find anther way to get in.
Prisons are a training school for amature thiefs to get a "formal education" on crime.
Sad to say there are "Jit Bags" just waiting to prey upon hard working peeps (like us) who take pride in having the finer things in life... $10 is alot of money to a junkie.
Motion sensors, dogs, nosey neighbors, well lit areas, cameras (even dummy type) seem to be the best deterrent for theives..... even then they will ignore the deterrent and make a hit.
