The high-speed engine controller means that the electronic top speed limiter has a higher limit than "regular" cars (R/T). I believe the speed limiter setting is dependent upon the speed rating of the factory tires. Dodge doesn't want to let the car exceed the speed rating of the OEM tires.
Thanks BobCollette, I did not know that. Any idea what the limiter is set to for the 392 Daytona with factory 275 Pirellis? Probably faster than I will ever go :)

Honestly, I don't know. My previous '06 Daytona was set for 145 (or so I've been told). I assume that the Daytona 392 would be at least that.

Congrats on the new Daytona. It sounds like you did your homework, do you know what the suspension difference is between the SP and Daytona? I've been trying to find it on the internet but no luck. Also, what is the high speed engine controller?
I cannot say with any degree of certainty what the difference in the suspension is. I just know that everything that you read is that it is different than the SP or 'regular' RT cars. I have heard that the Daytona is lower than the SP, but I'm not sure that it's the 2 inches as has been stated in this thread. I think the only way to tell would be to compare them side by side.
The high-speed engine controller is essentially a governor that limits the top speed. It's higher on the Daytona than it would be on an RT. I'm not sure of the exact value, but I seem to recall that it's somewhere around 155 MPH; I've been told that the OEM tires have a speed rating of around 180 MPH. I haven't gotten close to that speed, so I can't verify it.

So the graphics delete DOES eliminate the black roof?

Yes, deleting the graphics does away with the black roof. It makes the car sort of stealth mode. Many who don't know what they're looking at don't realize it's more than "just a charger".

... There is an aftermarket version of this wheel that is wider but i don't think it's forged and it may be quite a bit heavier...
I saw these wheels once online but now I can't find them. Do you recall where you saw them HemiDriver?

I have some road rash and I wanted to swap them around and get some repair work done.

I'm not sure what the reason is but Scat Packs seem to be the much more popular choice around here.I can spot at least one Scatty every day yet I hardly see any Daytonas out and about.

You know, I was thinking about creating a post asking just that. Nashville is a BIG Mopar town and I see tons of Chargers and Challengers every day. And I even belong to a local club (Misfits of Mopar). But, aside from this forum, I've yet to see another Daytona. Let alone a bright yellow one like mine.

Makes me wonder why that is? Be curious to see some sales numbers with percentages of Daytona's out of overall Charger sales... Are ours really that rare, did Dodge not sell that many?

It could be that 5k price bump Pete. Steve White Dodge in NC sells a lot of SP at or under the 40k mark. That is the lowest price point to get the look and power

Very possible. It's the mostly the same damn car but for another 5ish thousand it says Daytona (ooohh)
Dude, no need to hate... /s

I saw on another site where somebody added up all the extra's on the Daytona...
Not counting the graphics, it's about $7k worth of stuff for that extra $5k. Not a HUGE savings but a good deal.

However that's a deal ONLY IF you want all the stuff that's IN that $7k package, because you have no choice on what those upgrades are. I think they are nice, Mopar CAI, 275 tires with 9.5in aluminum wheels, Brembo brakes, sunroof, full performance pages in the radio, lowered 1.5in, power tilt wheel, fog lights, and my favorite in TN, the cooled seats :D. There is more, but that's off the top of my head... Oh and there is something different about the suspension, not full tilt adjustable like an SRT, but an upgrade...

However except for the full performance pages in the radio, I think you could ask for everything on the Daytona to be added to a Scat Pack. Would just cost you like $2k more than a Daytona would...

For me it was a good deal as I wasn't buying brand new, I got $11k off of the $51k sticker price with only 4k miles. All the other "last year's model's" they had available were not near as well equipped.

But you all have a point, when buying new it probably appears to be a lot more $$... And most of them are gonna break the $50,000 mark. And that's a deal breaker for a lot of Scat Pack buyers...
