Maybe you can lemon law it?

 

Ohio is 12 months 18k miles. I am just over that. The Magnuson Moss act (breach of warranty) covers it now. Dodge says they aren't going to even look at the issue & i have lost all respect for them. I also have the UCC (Uniform Commercial Code) to fall back on, but this requires litigation.

I have remedies but they all require me to fight Dodge, when they should just be doing the right thing. This is going to be a case in the court and in public opinion.

 

Sounds like you got a Monday or Friday car...

If they say there going to fix it.. what are they waiting for? Get'r done. Why has this process taken so long. Start replacing items till the issues go away. Seems like an easy process to me.

I feel for ya. I've been following along and can't believe your getting treated like you have when clearly there was an issue with the car that is covered under warranty. What exactly are your demands. Are you looking for replacement? I know i would be livid too if this was my car, but in the end, if they "fix" the issues, it should be fixed i'd hope.

I am leaning toward replacement (this is a long term safety issue!) or a special bumper-bumper 7 year/100k warranty with offsets for the Mopar extended warranty I bought; loss of use & some service compensation for the paranoia I will suffer driving this car wondering if it's going to malfunction. I would prefer a replacement; and I have repeatedly advised Dodge of my concerns regarding the over-voltage issue and what other future problems it could cause, leading to a potential accident.

Yep I would be totally peeved, however it is not FCA that is responsible it is the dealer and whoever the dealer authorized to paint the vehicle.
Trace back the original repair was the front fascia removed for painting or was it painted on the car same with the door.
Did they break, fray, or chafe some wire behind the fascia, or bend some pin connectors. or melt some wire from overheating the paint.
I would have the fascia removed and have all the wiring their replaced then go to the door wiring if it was removed. You said they warped the rubber bumper at the hood latch so is it possible they also melted some wiring inside the wire covering and it shorts out when driving because of the heat from motor.
sounds like a short to ground some where causing volt surge. The wiring is heating up during driving and shorting out, somebody did something wrong and are not saying what they did. totally dealer issue.

The paint issue is the least of my concerns, it's just the cherry on top of this disaster. They have not replaced the door yet so that has nothing to so with the electrical issue. The only thing connected to the front bumper are 2 side marker lights, again unlikely they are the cause of this. The warping of the bumper occured while it was off of the car and unsupported by the mesh grill while it baked.

Very unlikely it is a dealer issue.

I would ask the dealer to have a FCA electrical engineer meet you at the dealership to go over the car electrical system from start to finish,
and reflash entire vehicle with all the latest updates. The engineer will bring a laptop loaded with all info on your car from the plant. He can go through each circuit looking for errors. they do this in such cases.

You are to trusting of the dealership, once you get FCA engineering involved the dealership will change their tune because FCA will charge them if they are the cause of your problems, and the dealership will have to pay for the extended warranty the car has been sitting their.

The dealership is waiting for you to get teed off so you will tell them to fix it at your expense, where FCA will not take their crap.

 

They are already sending out a Regional tech from FCA, so hopefully that will move things along. Started talking with lawyers..fun fun. Just what I want to do!

9k miles on it when I got it. I was going to go for a new one but I could not get a B5 blue for at least another 10 weeks, and they wanted 12k more lol. So made a decision, flew down to LA and grabbed the only B5 Charger around.

Doesn't matter, it's under factory warranty, and covered by the UCC and Magnuson-Moss warranty act. Not to mention, it's a extreme safety hazard. If I get into an accident because of a malfunction caused by this mess (after thoroughly documenting my concerns) they are going to be in a world of unfortunate consequences.

There are just too many things wrong with this car. Hood replacement, bumper replacement, door repaint (all factory /dealer issues) and then the massive electrical issues.

I am trying to get them to see that and do the right thing by getting my video out there.

 

Wow man that's insane!! It's seems like they should be outright handing you a new set of keys. I know it's not something they traditionally do, but my god man that's so dangerous! I hope they get your situation straightened out. That's so unacceptable

 

I didn't know you bought it used. Do you have the repair history from when it was new? I'm just wondering if the previous owner was having the same problems with it.

 

Ok got the picture. So on your video, the rear door looks like a different color at the 34 second mark. Might just be the lighting. Was this picture in CA when you picked it up? Just wondering if there was some underlying issues already at 9k when you bought the car. Something that may not have shown up on a carfax or dealer report. Just asking.

Anyway, seems like most of your issues happened after the bumper incident at the dealer which you mentioned at 2.26 mark on the vid. In my mind the dealer needs to make this right. Before the bumper incident and the flashes, were you having any issues?

Before the bumper there were the following issues- the drivers door with the paint defect (factory) and the hood latch galvanic corrosion. (factory). It is hard to attribute the bumper to the electrical issue. They identified the underlying cause (it looks like)since I have not had any voltage spikes since they replaced the PCM-->Alternator sense overlay which is nowhere near the bumper area. I was there during the first bumper swap, the only things near that area are the side marker lights and the FCW sensor which is attached to the frame.

They put 600 miles on the car in testing.....And the paperwork does not reflect how many days it was in the shop. It looks like they were opening and closing tickets to keep the days "down" which is not sitting with me very well right now.

I also just got page one of the STAR discussion with the tech (they failed to give me page 2 in the just bundle of papers) and it shows that STAR was waiting on them for a response. Looks like Monday will be a fun day for me.


It is unfortunate that none of the higher-ups in Dodge have gotten ahold of this mess. I'm working on it, though.

Yeah I was thinking they F something up with one of the flashes. Who knows.

Anyway, I have the galvanic corrosion as well. I think most that own 15s do. I just clean it now and then with a little baking soda and vinegar. Some guys have painted the area of the latch with special anti corrosion paint. Another guy I know had some issues with clear coat peel on the drivers door edge. Got his fixed and it turned out fine.

Sorry for all you problems. They are great cars and a lot of fun but when you get problems like yours it's anything but fun.

Yeah man. I like what Dodge has done with all of these cars but to be honest the quality just isn't there. I haven't had major issues like yours but I have had the transmission/engine shifting issue and paint issues. I sort of got over the paint/panel fit. The shifting seems like they have fixed it with software updates. I go back and get more updates with a standard oil change and it's back to crap again. So I'm going to call them and see if they have more updates I can get...
Otherwise I've been heaviling considering a Lexus just the power to price ratio seems off.

 

Wow man that sucks. Have you seen the video by SRTMUSH on YouTube. He had some issues and posted a video and got the support from dodge and the SRT folks. Maybe you can get some info of the people he might know to help you out. Good luck man hope everything works out for you.

 

Yeah, actually I already spoke with him and he referred my video to Dodge. Apparently they don't care yet, though.. We will see if that changes as my bad press campaign kicks into full gear this week. I am not trying to get anything over on them, this car just has a lot of issues, issues that could result in a future accident.

They have not bothered to contact me as of yet, but things change. I want to be able to say they did the right thing because I love Dodge, but they are putting our relationship at risk.


This is how I feel about my car (funny lemon video).... Just replace "jeep" with "SRT"...

 

I feel bad for you. Obviously, you have supported Dodge, one of the "American" car companies, you are moderator of this forum. This is exactly why many have turned their backs on the domestic car industry, an industry that has a proud history...what happened to the legacy?
Many of us have had a foreign vehicle in our houses at one time or another. Our experiences vary, mine have been favorable. Price, reliability, customer service, and resale value, have all rated highly. Now don't get me wrong, I really like my Charger, but it was a surprise to me when I discovered this forum and read about all the issues and problems from owners. It doesn't seem like repetitive problems with the same thing. The issues go bumper to bumper, roof to brakes...goodnight!!

Seems like since Fiat took over things have taken a bit of a hit in the quality control and warranty dept. I have noticed that dealerships service departments have tighten there belts as of late. When I owned my 2011 it was a positive experience going in for service. They fixed anything without hesitation. No need to get approval from someone at Corp on a fix. Today, It feels like dealerships are being held hostage on warranty work. Meaning they won't get paid for warranty work unless approved by Corp. Snap pics or send in concerns and wait and wait for Corporate response. It will bit Sergio and Dodge in the ass eventually. But hey he will be gone by then so he won't give a shit.

 

Fun day today... Regional manager has done a preliminary approval for a buyback with a $5,000 incentive, and a transfer of my maxcare warranty on a new SRT. About to go up to the dealer to see what they can do... Hopefully that $5k will also include a employee special pricing option. We will see in short order and I will update you folks when I get back.

Just have to figure out if it's worth it, but it sounds like a promising start.

Well...That was insulting; it seems the dealership wants to make money off this mess by trying to screw around with me. They offered me...$33,000 trade and a 5K allowance from Dodge corporate that is not tied to the dealer. Problems started at 19k on this car (documented) not to mention the 1,000+ miles of "test driving" they did after failed repairs. Car is in perfect shape (per my maintenance and treatment) and they are trying to give me less than "fair" condition trade in value on KBB and then tried to offer me a...Get this-2016 @ $57k that has been sitting on a lot since..Wait for it... May 10th, 2016... On the other dealer site the price is $51,900 (without any negotiation) and The dealership told me that can get it to me for $56,000 with an $1,800 special dealer incentive for my trouble.

The SRT they are trying to sell me which I'm sure I could get for $47k.

I walked out; apparently they are not serious about resolving this issue and making things right on the dealer level. Service department is great, but the sales department lost all my respect. I guess I will have to continue making noise and bringing my car in every week with problems. Performance Dodge in Columbus is about to get re-rated a 1 star.

 

Ugh geez - you would think the dealership would want to "make things right" but instead they are trying to take you out back behind the wood shed...good for you though for walking out. Hopefully Dodge Corporate helps you out more.

 

Man sounds like you need a new dealer. Seriously.

Id shop your car around. Get on Kbb and put in exactly what options your 2015 has. Come up with a trade number then request a "Get an instant cash offer". See what comes up. Id say the dealer your at is 3k or so off the mark depending on options. Plus being the middle of winter does not help trade values on rwd high performance cars.

Im sure you can get a much better price on a 16/17 Srt. Will the 5k off also apply to a Daytona 392? Local dealer here has a toxic orange Daytona 392 at 3k off sticker and another 2k available if you qualify. Sticker is $48k. They also have a few srts and hellcats.

At this point it doesn't matter who is at fault. Take ownership of the issue, and put the past behind you.

Your car has issues. Your local dealer clearly doesn't care, but Dodge corporate finally got your back.

Jump online, and find the replacement you want, and then head to those dealers. Shop around at other dealers with that special 5k in incentive; that incentive may be on top of existing incentives and employee/friends pricing.

Once again, get away from your awful awful local dealer. Most other dealers will give you a better deal on a car and the trade-in.
