What are your 60 foot times right now?

 

I would say close to .5 seconds

 

Drag radials on my Daytona dropped the time 4 tenths in the quarter mile at Texas Motorplex last month. We changed from the stock 20s to 17" Nitto's between passes.

 

the guy's that I know using them avg 2-4 tenths!!!!

 

I change my 20s to 18 drag radials or I don't even go to the track.

launch around 1500rpm, set psi at 20, yes turn off the esp....

 

I shaved off approximately .5 off of my times when I started running DRs. I haven't had a chance to run on the 1/4 with them but my 1/8 mile went from averaging around 7.9 to 8.0 to consistent 7.40s. I've got the Hoosier tires on 17in American Racing Razors.

 

What kind of rims are you running.

If I got my 5.7 cammed and i wanted to run drag radials at the track, do I run the risk of breaking my half shafts or anything else behind the trans?

 

With the cam alone I would have to say no to that, there are people with the 5.7 head, cam upgrades that run drag radials I am sure.

I will have to ask around and see what the vendors say about that but I dont think it would happen.

aren't the mustang cobra wheels a 5 x 114.3 pattern and the LX is a 5x115 pattern? did you modify the wheels to fit?

 

That's only .7 mm, so they fit just fine. The only modification I did was to hone the center hole in the wheel out with a Dremel tool so that it did not fit tight on the center hub. We had a hard time getting the wheels off of the car the first time we used them.

 

Why not run full slicks for even better hookups?

 

I picked up almost .5 with a set of Hoosier DRs on 20 PSI.

 

OK! Do I really have to be overly concerned with snapping my halfshafts on my Daytona just by running drag radials? No other mods than CAI and Predator here.
