I use a barska with the digi pad and it just fits in the center console. it holds all my subcompacts and smaller with no prob. I havent came up with any thing to bolt down yet

 

Any of the smaller ones with the steel cable should work OK and fit back somewhat under the driver's seat.

Secure the cable around some of the seat frame/track steel, and it won't be going anywhere while you're gone.

I don't have to use one because my carry gun's always on me, not in the car.

 

Depending on how large your gun is, you can go with something like this and slide it under on of the front seats.

If not, you can mount a larger one to the back of the rear seat and if you want access to it from in the car, fold the rear seat down. If not, you can just flip the seat up and it's secure in the trunk.

 

have you removed the center cowl under your steering wheel? might be able to have a fabricator fix something up so that you can have a drop down box right under the steering wheel, talk about instant access!

That is a good idea, and not one I've heard before.

They only "kink" is for the driver to have access to it prior to exiting the vehicle.

Not sure if it has to be concealed in NC. Here in TN it is pretty lax but this smartcarry allows you to pic the location in the front for easy access. I only carry mine when on trips.

 

I been looking into this...I been thinking about shaving off the holders in the door since I never use it. And fiberglass a pocket for my handgun. I seen it done in a camaro. I just haven't figured how it will operate as fast as opening and closing and not popping open when I close the door..but just an idea

 

Or you could just Velcro your holster to the underside your center console lol...I just image googled it.

 

Here is an option if you want quick access from the drivers seat. It's not hidden but the only way to truly have both is to be custom.

Now this is pretty much hidden but only if you are tall and have long enough arms, you could still access it from the drivers seat.

I am always armed and usually carry in the shoulder rig. The seems to be countless ideas I've seen. One guy pop riveted a old soft holster to the door pocket of his GM pick up door (south paw). Most common around here is to tuck it between the console and the seat. Heavy duty magnets are also popular for in console tucks.

The most important thing is quick access and it's there when you need it!

NC's an open carry state so, visibility is not an issue. I have a CWP, and I carry concealed where I legally can. There are places - schools, certain government buildings, and those few businesses that think a sign on the door is going to to deter criminals where I have to lock it securely in the vehicle.

NC recently - last Oct - corrected a few issues relating to CWP holders where we can now carry in restaurants that serve alcohol - of course, cannot drink. We can also now have the weapon in the vehicle on public school grounds - has to remain in a container, and cannot be out of the vehicle, and they also relieved the local authorities of the ability to restrict concealed carry in parks and playgrounds, other than a few exceptions like I can't carry my weapon in a pool, or an a playing field - if it is marked as prohibited by the controlling local authority.

As far as easy access while in the vehicle goes, the gunholder (cupholder) in the Charger door fits my G 26 in a holster nicely.

As far as only carrying when you are on trips, you might consider that as long as you have a head on your shoulders, you will likely never be sorry that you are carrying and don't need it, while the opposite may not be true.

 

I keep my PPK/s in the little cubby hole in the top left corner of my glove box. It fits there perfectly. It does double duty as my car gun, and my carry gun in case I forget to take my normal carry gun with me when I leave the house. My wife keeps a Glock 40cal in a holster designed to look like a daily planner.
