HP Tuners vs Diablosport

Hey All,

So I am stuck. I cannot decide which tuning solution to go with. In a few weeks I am taking my car to a local speed shop for some tuning and I need to figure out which solution I want. I will be using a Tranzformer II and one of these engine tuners to start my mods. Eventually I plan on adding a limited slip diff with taller gears, something diablosport can accommodate. According to the tuning shop they can get more results out of HP Tuners so part of me leans that way.

Would my best option be to just pick up a used diablosport InTune to edit the gear ratio when I get around to that mod? Then let the shop use HP Tuners on the engine for now. I don't plan on changing any tune settings myself as I do not have that knowledge.

Thanks,
Brian

If you don't plan to tune yourself don't waste the money on HPT.

I don't see how you could use both. I'm surprised, if you're saying that HP Tuners cannot accommodate gear changes too.

DiabloSport definitely has the history with our cars, but HP Tuners and SCT are now providing support for the 2011+ too. There is someone on here (I keep forgetting who) that is using HP Tuners and is very happy with them.

IMO, I would think that if your tuner/shop is more comfortable with HP Tuners and has proven results, that would be the way to go. The same could be said if that same shop was more proficient with the DiabloSport or SCT tuner.

They are definitely more proficient with HP Tuners, they have been tuning Ford and GM's for a long time. They recently got back into Mopar tuning. HPTuners doesn't have the TCM access from what I have read on other forums to edit the gear ratios. I am waiting to hear back from zautotech to see if the Tranzformer can.

BadAV, The tuning shop has HPTuners and deals with the "credits" or what not. I would not have to purchase anything specifically for that.

If the tuner is going to use HPT and can adjust the gear ratio also, I don't see a down side to going with them. I originally thought you were talking about purchasing HPT.

Many tuners will offer lifetime tune updates, or a certain number of updates a year, so if you change something down the road, you can get a re-tune.

Just to be clear, DiabloSport can't really access (program) the TCM either. You should still be able to adjust differential gear ratio, tire size, etc. with any of the programmable tuners.

HP Tuners is proud to announce READ & WRITE support for EGS52 & EGS53 in the latest beta (2.25.2461 or newer). These TCMs were used with the A580 transmission from 2005 to 2015.

This includes but is not limited to the following vehicles:

2006 - 2014 Chrysler 300/300C
2009 - 2014 Dodge Challenger
2006 - 2014 Dodge Charger
2011 - 2012 Dodge Durango (V6 models)
2005 - 2008 Dodge Magnum
2007 - 2011 Dodge Nitro (4.0L models only)
2006 - 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee
2012 - 2015 Jeep Wrangler

After downloading the latest beta, you will be able to read and write to your EGS52/EGS53. Please note that we will not support some outdated EGS53 operating systems (we will update your TCM OS automatically to a newer/supported OS).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Before tuning these TCMs, please make sure you have 2.25.2461 or newer installed on your computer, discard any TCM reads created with 2.25.2460 or older, and RE-READ your vehicle. Prior versions of the beta allowed for these TCMs to be read, however if you attempt to load any read that was created using an older beta it may cause VCM Editor to crash.

After reading your vehicle, if you get a "Validate Checksum Failed" error, please email a VCM Suite Infolog and the .HPT file to support. For more information on this error please see this thread: Validate Checksum Failed. You will be unable to save or flash this file.

If you do not have the latest beta on your customer page to download and you need access to the latest beta you will need to contact support requesting access and we'll post it to your customer page. Please include your serial number in the email requesting beta access.
