Hey guys,

My car has really been treating me poorly.

After my last problem, i noticed my car started making weird noises. Almost like a grinding, but can't figure out where it's coming from. Sounds like inside the engine almost.

I took it to the dealership and got it checked out, going back tomorrow morning too! Didn't have a check engine light on when i got there, and he looked at it a bit. It makes a loud metal grinding noise.

When i got in my car to leave, i noticed my CEL came on. I plugged in my tuner, and got the message that Cylinder 6 was misfiring!!

I had noticed my engine was really low on oil for some reason too, i added more, and am actually now going out to get enough oil to just change it. Perhaps this will get it lubed back up and make it run nice again? Or am i just totally screwed into a big money investment...?

Any input is very welcomed. This is my baby, and i don't like having to take her to the hospital!!

Thanks gang!
Chris

Any grinding metal coming from the engine is not good at all...... I would drain the oil and look for metal and maybe put a magnet in it for a bit and see if anyting collects... I would also pull the plugs from that cyl and look at them. Try not to speculate too much right now til you look at them. Personally, I wouldnt drive the car either til you have more of a handle on the situation.....

How low was the oil ?

Anyone know where to find Cylinder 6? Or even how they are laid out/labeled? I changed the oil, absolutely no metal shavings. When i refilled the quarts with the old oil, i only filled up about 5 and a half of the quarts. It was down maybe a whole quart i think.

Thanks for the fast reply. I'm torn if i want to go get it looked it, telling i am almost positive the tool he's going to use to run a diagnosis will be the same tool as my Diablo Trinity. I MAY just keep driving it till the oil starts to lubricate the parts again. At least drive it locally.

Thanks again, any more help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Please have it looked at. If its making metal to metal contact you have a big problem...I'd be curious though if its more of the top end of the motor vs the bottom end...

it could something like a cracked spring on the head to a spun bearing.
