My cluster is the problem

Hi guys. I have finally found the fault in my electrical system and it is in deed my cluster. I was looking online for a new one but it would seem my exact one has been "discontinued". I have 2 questions. The first is, if I use a cluster with a model number that doesn't match but the part does, what will happen? My cluster ends in 062AD, the clusters I am finding that match my car(2007 dodge charger 3.5L) have the number 062AE. Other than that they look EXACTLY like mine, harness connectors and all. My second question is, I was reading the sales pages on Ebay for clusters and I came across one that warns, and I'll quote,

"Many vehicles have data (immobilizer data, anti-theft data, VIN#, mileage, etc) stored in the cluster itself. If you install a used cluster in MOST vehicles (that is not your original cluster coded to that car) your CAR WILL NOT START! or you will have warning lights, your fuel gauge won't work, it will write incorrect mileage to another part in your vehicle that will cost you $2500 to get fixed at the dealer, any number of problems. CONTACT US before purchase with any questions/concerns. We are PROS at this and we will help you figure it out."

Is this true? I have read others changed their clusters out in the same year car and some a year newer or older, and did not experience this issue. Nothing more than incorrect mileage. Can anyone confirm either way? Thanks guys.

The last letter is just the revision ID, meaning that AE is slightly newer than AD. No problem.

About the anti-theft warning, this is the first I've heard of it. Plenty of members here have swapped clusters for various reasons without triggering some mandatory $2500 repair. But why worry about it? Just do what the seller says and send them a message asking if it's an issue for your car.

Thanks for the response. I was suspecting that it was a revision number but I didn't just want to assume, I wanted to be sure. And I did reach out to that company, I haven't heard back from them yet. From what I have been able to gather the only thing that really happens is your mileage won't be correct and you will have to have that part reprogrammed at the dealer but otherwise everything else will work fine. But again, I wanted to be sure and not assume anything.
