Tail light paint?

Alright guys/gals, I've got all my other paint ready to paint my tail lights except the black paint. I have painted my side marker lights with black auto uni. Gloss black paint, but don't like the texture. Felt to thick, rubbery.

What is a good black paint, that maybe would match the gloss black trunk vinyl, and the color of vht with like 3-4 coats.

I like the texture of vht. I could do that and just put a ton of coats on, but don't want to waste paint. I would like to use regular auto paint.

What u guys think?

yeah i like the vht nightshades, but i dont want to beabe to see through them.
i have the 09-10 tail lights (with the ressed circles). i will paint everything else but the circles and reverse; the black paint i am looking for. then the circles and reverse in vht.

Got it now....... I mean, you can always just keep spraying on VHT until its pitch black. If it doesn't turn out, the ONLY thing I found to take the Nightshades off is "Goof Off in the spray can".

I do like how those lights look when its just the two circles showing though.

Brilliant black will do you some justice. Keep in mind though, when the sun hits it, sparkles (flakes) we be seen. With your car being Dark Titanium, there could be a lot of contrast between the body and tails. You could just go for a solid black. Go to your local paint shop and ask them to put your paint in a spray can for you. They will reduce it and everything for you before they put it in there. It'll shoot similar to a spray gun as well. They can do this with pretty much any color you want, and also for clear coat. So you won't need a compressor and guns. Might get a bit of orange peel, but that's easily sanded and buffed off.

thanks for the advise. i think what im going to do is just use the VHT and just use more coats. the VHT is about perfect to the color im looking for so i guess ill just use that.

i cant wait to paint them. but the damn weather wont cooperate. maybe later this week, its "supposed" to warm up, but it seems they never get the weather right in st louis.

"high of 45* with no chance of precipitiation..... snows an inch an a half" go figure..... damn weather people

Hey now, you take it easy on my weather brothers and sisters out there lol. Most of them are just broadcasters to read the weather they steal from crappy sources:) if you want to keep an eye on the weather a little better go to:
adds.com---->metars---->type in KBLV in the space provided. Wait nvm if you haven't seen a taf before you won't be able to read it lol

Haha it's like that everywhere right now. Cold fronts are moving through like a boss. If you're going VHT only you're fine to shoot in the cold. I shot my wife's tail lights with VHT and automotive clear in 45 degrees. Cold to do, but the VHT doesn't have the same shrinking problem as regular reduced paint.
