You can definitely change out your tips. A lot of us have. Just be sure when you take off the fake tips, that you put the plastic surround around them back on the diffuser. This stabilizes it and keeps it from flapping. You'll see it when you take the fakies off.

 

I think you'll be fine. Several members have ditched the stock tips for quads. Plan on doing the same thing myself. I'm sure others will chime in.

 

There are a few threads around here, but I don't have time to dig them up now. It's kind of a pain to get the stock tips off because the bolt locations are tricky, but a few guys have done it and quad tips look awesome!

Getting the stock "tips" out is a PITA. You need some elbow grease for sure. I hated those things, both before removal and even more so when I took them out.

Came with a Banks exhaust system my Dad had for his F150. It melted something on his 5th wheel, so he needed turn downs and I snagged these from him. Expensive on their own though!

IMO the round tips look good on the R/T's after you get the square pegs out. Either chrome or black. I bought the chrome borla 4 inch tips and plasti-dipped them matte. No problems with heat. They have over 4000 miles on them.

 

I put quads on mine, I love it. No issues with the plastic. The chrome bezels were definitely a PITA to get off, especially the third hidden bolt up top. I used a small angled torque wrench which worked great.

I don't think you can - every aftermarket tip I've seen is at least 6-8 in long and would poke out the back of the valance if you leave the reso's on. Main reason why I haven't done it yet.

 

Yep, With the reso's on it does not leave much room for tips. Short tips are hard to find I found out, at least the ones I liked. Quad and Round tips work great on aftermarket Catbacks that come without them like the Dynomax.

Yeah removing the reso's is whats stopping me. Yesterday I got the mufflers cut off. I like it. Very aggressive on start-up. Its a little raspy at high RPM's it seems but I don't floor it often. This may be a stupid question but can single exhaust tips (like the SRT's) work? I figured the quad tips didnt

Straight pipe all the way through? Video? How's the drone?

 

I posted a video in the "RT exhaust" section just the other day. Today I drove my family to Napa to celebrate the 4th (about a 40 mile drive) and I kept it in 5th gear on the freeway at about 1900-2000 rpm with no drone. In fact, it's quieter at cruising speeds than it was when I was running flowmaster 40's with reso delete. I love my straight pipes!

 

I have changed the middle mufflers to Magnaflow and am doing a reso delete soon. Can I take off the stock square outlets and install exhaust tips on the straight pipe?
My fear is: The stock square unattached outlet may provide some heat protection. Will attached tips get hot and melt the plastic? I expect to use 2.5" in and 4" tips to take up the cutout area.

Hi bro i actually bought the 2.5 inch quad tips on my charger 2015 rt on amazon the brand is upower really good fit they only took off the chrome ring around it it looks sick but its the stock exhaust still sound really good
