DIY accordion intake tube replacement?

Due to the excessive dusty conditions here. I'll be putting my stock intake back on. The 100 degree heat at 5000k elevation has rendered my big bully CAI worthless.

Expect my big bully intake to be in for sale soon. It is a fantastic intake at sea level bar none. Up here in New Mexico it seems that I have lost a lot of low end torque when it's hot because the intake takes in hot air from the engine bay which is probably 10000000 degrees hot ha. I actually can see cold water evaporate instantly on my hood. Def not like NY here ha.

The only problem i see with the stock intake is the accordion style tube between the air box and the air "chamber". Does anyone know how to DIY or buy a smooth silicone pipe for this? It would allow air to flow smoother.

Let us know how much you are looking to get for your intake. I am interested.

Just keep an eye on the for sale section. I will have a very reasonable and fair price for it. It is only a year old and the filter was recently cleaned a few weeks ago.
My stock intake is being shipped here from my parents' place in NY. I should be swapping them out next weekend.

Any feedback on the hose replacement? Here's a "Borrowed" image from another car that shows what I am trying to do.

Also, I did debate removing that 90 degree "intake resonator funnel". Would that be beneficial or would it just make more noise without more power? I want to squeeze as much power as I can out of a stock intake while keeping it fed via that triangular hole in the bottom. Not interested in a forward facing DIY Ram Air kit. Remember, I am in 90-100 degree days through most of the year in an area that has a lot of blowing sand. Metal intake tubing and forward facing intake ducts are a no-no for me.

Just bumping this up for the brains of the Z.

Let's keep it simple for now, would it be beneficial to remove the 90 degree air inlet hose inside the fender for use with the stock airbox or not?
5000+ elevation and 90-100 degree days most of the year in a dusty environment.

Thanks Mike. I'm just amazed at how much of a dog the 3.6 is here in NM. I floor it and it takes like 10 seconds to reach 2nd gear at 55mph.

If it's cold in the am, it's much better but blah!

That is why I bought a Mopar CAI, it has a box around the filter and still pulls from the original location. I found mine on craigslist for $200. I live in CA but am in AZ monthly. I performs great in Phoenix at 115F, in the Caliif desert, or on the way to Vegas.

I did hook up the stock tube to the Mopar CAI box and the power was lost. Try connecting the Bully tube to your stock box too or find a better tube than the slinky that came with the car.

I did consider the bully tube but it's too long and it'd have to be hacked up.

Right now I'm just more interested in the intake tube and if I should remove it or not.

Had some spare time today. Removed the resonator. I didn't realize how big it was. Some people just have a 90 degree bend but I had an actual resonator box.
I also moved my hid ballast because I'm afraid the stock intake will not fit over it.

This weekend the stock intake goes back on and I'm looking forward to seeing if my low end torque comes back.

Hopefully it all works out brother! I removed my air silencer the other day as well!

It should help a bit. Here in NM my car loves to hang around 3000rpm or less. I don't push the car like I could in NY. The real answer to the problems at elevation is forced induction. Can't wait for options to come up.
