So I put a Solo exhaust on my 2014 RT AWD a couple months ago. Solo uses a "J" pipe to replace the resonator, i want back twice for J pipe adjustment. The first adjustment helped the MDS drone but it was still pretty loud. The second adjustment dropped the tone of the entire exhaust from idle all the way through to WOT but did not help the drone.
Solo has now produced a spring loaded exhaust throttling device (not sure what the real term is for them) but they create a variable exhaust pipe dimension depending on exhaust gas flow. When on 8 cyl and with foot on the gas the valve is full open and when the MDS kicks in and exhaust flow drops the spring closes down the exhaust pipe dimension to tune it to the 4 cylinder operation. Apparently this is a copy of what Dodge has on the new V8's with MDS.
The drone is effectively gone and the car is SO MUCH better on the highway under lite to mid throttle. It works well, haven't seen any performance differences. I recorded my 3 month fuel use average and now I will do the same to see if there is any fuel consumption difference.
All in all i am impressed with how the Solo guys have been on this and have helped out without question and without additional costs.

Wow, that's an awesome product! You were able to purchase this by itself?

Oh I see, thanks for the info! This could be a great option for those w/o active exhaust. Especially if this can be added to other aftermarket exhausts.

So no wiring or anything like that? It works soley based on exhaust backpressure?

I saw this thread and just installed these on my SRT. Wow, what a difference. All the miserable drone is gone. Car is still loud but none of that annoying cabin drone. I can actually hear the stereo. Jeff at Solo Performance was great to work with and spent quite a bit of time with me on the phone answering questions before I decided to take the plunge. I did not want to cut up the exhaust system on a new car but Dodge engineers did a horrible job of designing the exhaust. These units were well worth the purchase.

So you added these onto your stock SRT exhaust? in addition to the stock Active Exhaust System? Interesting

Hi, I was looking through the site to see who else had a Solo put in. I had mine done in April at Mufflerman, loving it except for what you mentioned with the MDS drone. Mine seems to have so many "voices" as I like to call it. High pitch low pitch switching back and forth - Its driving me mad. I've been back to the shop there and wanted some adjustment to the J pipes but the guy at the desk (not Bob) told me they come pre-adjusted to the car as best as they can be, so fiddling with adjusting it may make it worse he said. I see these parts you have - is it something they (Mufflerman) can install on my system? Wonder why they haven't mentioned it when I went in. I'll have to call and bug them. Glad I found this post, thanks :)

Yeah I had the J pipes adjusted and it will change the overall tone but it didn't offset the MDS affect. The exhaust is tuned for 8 cylinders so when its on 4 cyl the tuning is all wrong. The adjustable orifice flaps kind of "retune" it during MDS. I'm at 8 months and no problems, still the best thing I did.
