Hi Guys, Nice site! Tons of info.
Unfortunately I am here because of taking my wife's near perfect 2010 Charger R/T to the dealer for a front end noise at low speeds during backing (and while it's here, please rotate the tires). When I picked it up all 4 chrome clad wheels were cracked by the lug nuts. Some so severe that the cracks are running down the center of the flat portion of the rim cover. When I saw it the next day I flipped! Not one rim-all 4!
Not only that but they made the noise in the front end worse by tightening the front struts. Now the car steers hard and has a worse noise than ever.
Today I towed it back on my own trailer just because I didn't want to drive it like this and showed them the rim damage.
Their response is to call Chrysler and see if they will cover under warranty.
Car has 15K miles on it and has only had one winter tire swap. Wheels are washed weekly so I know they were not like this before I brought it there but now it must be a warranty issue ?????? Not happy.
I see from the posts that the front end noise is most likely a tie rod but can anyone shed any light on the chrome clad rim cracking issue?
It looks like it is pretty common but not sure if they will cover this through Chrysler. The dealership has plain outright told me that they will not be buying me a thousand dollars in new rims because they do not come separate. :shakehead:
Any feedback to my email or this thread would be appreciated.
Thank you.
